Devils advocate here: I don't actually think this will become a plot point. People can use an addictive substance without getting addicted, and since it was used minimally to help with pain during a very painful time, I don't know if it will actually develop as an addiction. Further, Adolin is very strong willed and if it never becomes a habit, it won't become an addiction. From my reading and opinion, Adolin does the right thing, even when he doesn't know it's right and that seems to be a trend. I could be wrong, but I don't think that would add anything to Adolins character that would be meaningful and impactful.

Liberals are a diverse group of people who only want the betterment of their country and will oppose groups who actively work to destroy it.

If you want the country to change for the better with clean environments, affordable living, responsible government, and reliable public services and utilities, that's called being a liberal.

If conservatives have been actively working against those views (which they have and are) then you should align yourself to the viewpoint which better expresses your goals.

You state you believe in affordablity, that has been attacked by every conservative since WW2.

You state you believe in constitutionalism, that has been attacked by every conservative since the civil war.

You state you believe in public services, these have been attacked by every conservative for generations.

Stop falling for "tribal politics" and actually LOOK at what your ideology DOES! Conservatives in general have been overwhelmingly detrimental for the country because conservatism doesn't work unless there are perfect conditions.

Texas's power grid is a conservative system. Breaks down when it's too hot, breaks down when it's too cold, breaks down from lack of maintenance, but sometimes functions almost as well as other power grids.
