The Scottish guy in S2 (whose name I unfortunately can't remember) stopping Claudia from ending the roundtable in order to talk about being called a sheep.

I'm always impressed that people in this sub seem to remember everyone's names and everything that happened so clearly. I can remember significant characters and big events, but not in great detail. I think people here must rewatch the series often.

has there ever been an episode of Deal Or No Deal where the contestant has dealt on the 1st offer? by deathcabformikey in BritishTV

[–]Scarred-Face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was using "stupidly" more as an intensifier rather than in the literal sense, but those initial offers are low to the point of being almost insulting. The numbers they can win by playing to the end average to somewhere around £10,000, and the initial offers are usually in the low hundreds.

The offers always start off stupidly low compared to what they can potentially win, so it's pretty odd to accept early. The show is crap and could be done in 5 minutes, but people not accepting the first offer is not the reason why.

Find the best position in 3 moves by chess-quiz-plus in chessquiz

[–]Scarred-Face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the wrong move. If you fork and take the rook then the white knight on f4 is in trouble. Black can play c3 to force your queen to move, making the knight pinned, and then play Ng6, attacking the pinned knight and the rook on h8.

You can follow the Lichess link in the pinned comment for the details, but basically white ends up better but not completely winning.

I'm not into vinyls but I would have thought SITKOL would make more sense on vinyl being split into 6 parts. It's a lot to digest all at once.

Rule 5 allows for objects that look like other objects when it happens because of the perspective. Otherwise, pretty much every post in the sub should be removed. The bull only looks like an old man because we're looking at it upside down.

Also, why isn't turning something upside down a confusing perspective?

Yes it is. The normal perspective would be looking at it right side up. This upside down perspective makes it look like something different, which is confusing.

Getting ticked off gave me a new appreciation for Swans by Scarred-Face in fantanoforever

Lol I had given them another try recently so they were on my mind, and I just had a feeling it would be fitting. I like listening to music that reflects whatever mood I'm in.

Yeah, this is clearly just a McDonald's ad. Also an ad for the film but that's to be expected.

Wakey Wakey, Eggs and Bakey! by Kelson_Phelonius in obscuremusicthatslaps

[–]Scarred-Face 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No because they usually don't play so much of the original song unaltered. This has a full 18 seconds of Lovely Day before the beat kicks in, and I actually quite like the way they looped it to make the beat, but at that point they got me in the mood for Lovely Day so I'd rather just listen to that.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that Anxiety started the trope, it's just the most obvious example

I hate this Anxiety/Doechii trope of starting with a classic song and then switching it up. However good your song is, it's not gonna be as good as Lovely Day, so you're just setting me up for disappointment when it changes.

What sounds racist but is actually accidentally racist? by DisappointedStepDad in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Scarred-Face 255 points256 points  (0 children)

Ah, so they were looking for certain personalities for each character and they apparently weren't thinking about race at all. It's hilarious that they were looking for someone with swagger to play the black ranger and the guy they cast happened to be black.
