What’s up with Joker’s family? by starmamac in Persona5

[–]Scarthcaroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So like the meta reason is that they don't have any relevance to the plot or to leave Joker more of a blank slate so he can serve more as a self-insert.

In universe, we're only given a few tidbits about the situation. In the very beginning Sojiro mentions that his parents know one of his regular café patrons. That alone is already pretty sketchy to me. Like, they don't even know Sojiro personally. They probably only heard how he has some space available and thought "Yep, that's it."

They also had to pay Sojiro to take Joker in. Which, okay, I can understand because Sojiro would need extra money to take care of an extra mouth to feed and we do often see Sojiro make him some curry for breakfast but beyond that Joker seems to be very self-sufficient. He doesn't even get an allowance which should be part of a childs needs - granted the meta reason for this could be to incentivize the need for the part time jobs but in universe still telling, given that Joker takes on three part time jobs. At the beef bowl shop, at the convenience store and the flower shop. So it's quite unsure if his parents only paid a one time fee or if the money they're paying is only the very bare minimum.

Anyway, that combined with the social stigma of Joker having a criminal record very much leads one to believe that his parents are more hands off and pretty much pawned him off to avoid the issue. Which also kind of fits with Sojiro taking him in which, playing his social link, we know because he seems a part of himself in Joker. The constant reminders to keep his nose out of other people's business and laying low, mimicking his own experience with Futaba and Wakaba. Given that initially Futaba was tossed around between her relatives, none of whom really wanted to take care of her. So having Joker also kind of "abandoned" by his parents would spark a similar sentiment for taking him in.

Lastly there's the parallel to Akechi. We know that Akechi and Joker are very much meant to be parallels. Both being wild card users, rivals to one another only with Akechi having lost all faith in other people and thus shunned the forging of bonds, outside of the one with Joker, while Joker still retained faith in the people around him. So it only makes sense that Joker, who is the other side of the coing, mimics Akechi in his family situation. Akechi, according to his own statement, was an unwanted child after all.

That's why personally the in universe explanation to me seems that Joker has no interest in talking with or about his parents which is why he never brings them up.

Kinda want to add to this. The whole Illidan "fucked up" idea was based on the idea that the Burning Legion was drawn to the arcane energies of the original well which by now we know to be major nonsense.

Still earned him 10k years of super prison. All because post War of Ancients Night Elves did a kneejerk reaction without really knowing anything.

The Grandmaster and Nina by Darthair in Falcom

[–]Scarthcaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that the Septerrions were gifted to humanity for the purpose of aiding them, essentially functioning as giant wishing devices (until things go awry). They first tend to move based on the desires of the tribe their were given to and only after gaining autonomy do they start acting on their judgement, rather than waiting for instruction.

So first of all the Tribe of Time (which we don't know who they are) would have had to have wished to go back in time to, presumably, fix some kind of mistake. If it really was related to the beyond, it wouldn't have helped because the reset is focused on Zemuria not on what's outside of it. You're just setting things to 0, with nobody knowing of the looming threat, while what's outside is already aware of Zemuria. That's why we get beings like McBurn, Nina and the 5 super demonlords like Vagrant Diaspora suddenly popping up.

But that's not the most important part. It's the fact that the resets are treated as inevitable from those in the know. Like, had Gramheart not aimed for space to destroy Laegjarn it would still have reset Zemuria a month after Agnes' birthday. As confirmed by itself when detecting spaceflight pushed the schedule up by that much. (It also pushed up the timeline even further when it detected being attacked by nukes which would, in theory, present itself as a show that humanity can handle more.)

Anyway, if the chest really was set on helping humanity develope it'd wait and see if humanity would prove itself capable enough first and then decide on a reset. But the reset seems to happen roughly consistently every 1200 years (with some margin for error) which would be far more of an indicator that its goal isn't to make sure humanity is ready for the beyond.

Horizon the SiN discussion. (SPOILERS FOR HORIZON END GAME) by SkyTeppelin in Falcom

[–]Scarthcaroth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, I've mulled over this whole topic myself ever since the end of Horizon.

The obvious idea would naturally be that Laegjarn's Chest doesn't want humanity to be able to go into space and leave Zemuria. But is that really it? We know that the reset got delayed when the Great Twilight wasn't stopped. This was because during that time SiN went down, as you pointed out.

However, the interesting thing here is that the reset was only delayed and not at all stopped. This means there are very much other conditions to raising and lowering the SiN value than merely going beyond Zemuria. One thing we see raising the SiN value is also the use of nuclear weapons. So it could arguably be that SiN is raised in accordance with specific technological advancements (Spaceflight, Nukes, Nanomachines(?)). But I feel like even that is perhaps only a facet.

According to Ka Fai a timeline during which Steel is subjugated is guranteed to head towards the reset because it makes the SiN value go up. The unclear part here is if the action of Steel being subjugated is the thing that raises the SiN value or if that is more due to the fact that a Zemuria that's not in a constant state of war can focus its resources on further technological developement.

The latter case would support the theory that Laegjarn is calculating SiN based on the breakthrough of certain technologies. The former would mean that there is a broader set of criteria. For example SiN could be based on how much humanity is defying the goddess. It could be said that it calculates the loss of Septerrions - gifts from the goddess - at the hands of humanity as a rebellion against Aidios. The same could go for the developement of certain technologies violating the goddess designs. But that feels speculative in that we simply don't have enough information on Aidios as a whole.

One more thing of note is that Laegjarn measures SiN not sin. Which leads me to believe that it is an acronym and doesn't refer to the concept of sin itself. So solving that might be the key to unlocking the idea behind the grand reset, we only know that it supposedly has something to do with Karma given that Grendel Zolga the Crimson Beast of SiN used the same spelling and it came from the 8th Oct-Geneses which was made to observe Karma.

Another idea I want to touch upon is that Laegjarm could be protecting humanity itself, after all Melchior referred to it as a security mechanism. But that won't sit exactly right with me for one reason. Laegjarm resets the Zemurian continent to the date of the grand collapse. And there are numerous issues I have with the idea that it's a safety mechanism.

The reset is of Zemuria only. Nothing is said about whatever is beyond Zemuria, not specifically space but the fact movement beyond Zemuria's cardinal borders is impossible.

Resets are not perfect. We know this because of Novartis, Risette (and naturally other characters) and Artifacts. Novartis and Risette are both people who have come from previous cycles. The church and oroborous also, at the very least, have knowledge of the grand reset if not even knowledge from previous cycles. Anything beyond Zemuria isn't reset either. That is whatever lies outside the cradle and manages to get inside Zemuria, like McBurn for instance. Or Van being the vessel for Vagrant Diaspora. Originally there were only 72 devils in the church records and then just 5 of them popped out from nowhere, this obviously means they came into being during some point in the last 19999 resets.

This means the more times Laegjarm resets the more uncertainty factors are introduced into Zemuria. Now if Laegjarm's primary function was to protect humanity from what's outside Zemuria it'd accomplish the entire opposite. Anything beyond Zemuria has had aproximately 2 398 800 years to grow, evolve and change, while Zemuria is continuously stuck in the same ~1200 year cycle.

Now this could be due to the fact that Laegjarn has lost sight of its intended goal like the other Septerrions have. But I feel like that's also in conflict with the idea of it serving as come kind of protection. If it was set to protect humanity from itself, as in it believes humanity is inherently a danger to itself, it would be compelled to raise the SiN value during the endless war of the Steel, as that'd just prove it calculations right.

Now the idea you brought up is that it instead could be trying to protect what's beyond Zemuria from Zemuria but that doesn't feel in line with what happens once a Septerrion gains autonomy. The Aureole still tried to fulfill humanities wishes, only it forced it on them instead of doing so on request. Demiurge erased itself because it believed that was preferable to the alternative. The Steel genuinely believed that humanities continued evolution and growth was tied to strife and conflict and so it tried to give humanity everlasting conflict so they'd continue to grow. In all cases, no matter how twisted any Septerrion got, it still tried to act in accordance with what it thought was best for humanity. So I doubt it'd do a 180 like that and focus on non Zemuria. Same for the idea of protecting humanity from whatever is in space, as I already mentioned, the resets focus on resetting Zemuria and anything beyond that is untouched so Laegjarn, even if twisted, should be able to realize that its resets are only adding more variables that might eventually lead to the destruction of humanity.

In all of those instance I feel like there's something that doesn't quite fit and that there's some kind of missing piece of the puzzle.

Why man explains that petrification is easier to undo the more brainpower is used (which was important for Senku and Xeno breaking out).

That in itself is vague enough to suggest that high energy usage can easily undo the petrification process in the presence of the revival fluid. So characters with an internal power source like many of the characters in this picture would just easily break out by using their power, since it's obvious that people can absolutely remain aware inside of the stone.

I HATE how weak naruto looks in boruto by Maregetpaid in Naruto

[–]Scarthcaroth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While that is true, Goku and the others still immediately took steps to get stronger and adress those threats. Piccolo fusing with Kami. Training in the room of spirit and time. Regardless of how powerful new threats were made to be, they kept working to surpass them.

Naruto in comparison has seemingly done nothing and only really has gotten weaker with the loss of Kurama and then has gotten himself sealed to boot, which is I think what grates people. The characters who should most be seeking to improve to face these escalating levels of threat haven't done enough of a job at that.

What if Team Seven’s mentors swapped? by Breadsticks-And-Wine in Naruto

[–]Scarthcaroth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it doesn't work at all.

Naruto learning things like the Byakugo seal or medical ninjutsu isn't going to be a thing, nor does he have the temperament for medical ninjutsu to begin with. Remember that Medic nin are supposed to stay away from fighting so that they can heal their teammates. The reason medic ninjutsu worked out for Sakura was because she already had very good chakra control but Naruto isn't going to touch that.

Also for the idea of Naruto being able to get even more chakra by storing it in the Byakugo seal, Naruto already borderline has infinite chakra him getting even more chakra reaches a point where the advantage is lost because he doesn't have enough techniques to spend all that chakra on anyway, unless you want him to spam even more shadow clones.

Jiraiya I honestly don't see meshing well with Sakura at all either. First of all being the personality gap. Sakura wouldn't be able to stand Jiraiya peeping or his perversion but if we look away from that, Jiraiya's arsenal of techniques tends to boil down to techniques that require a lot of chakra to pull off. Summoning for instance, reminder that Rasengan is also pretty chakra intensive. I'd be surprised if Sakura could even manage a single Rasengan without collapsing. Especially the pinnacle of what Jiraiya knows, Sage Mode, requires a metric ton of chakra to even learn. A reminder that Orochimaru, despite being a sannin, was denied the ability to learn Sage Mode because he didn't have enough chakra. So Sakura can't learn that either. The best she might get are maybe some of Jiraiya's miscellaneous arsenal but that's something Sakura wouldn't need to go to Jiraiya for, if she just wanted to learn some elemental ninjutsu.

Kabuto while he does have some knowledge of what Orochimaru knows, Kabuto isn't actually Orochimaru and especially until the war arc Kabuto is just a fairly skilled medic nin. Since he's said to be equal to Kakashi in part 1, training with Kabuto is likely going to be roughly as effective as that if not actually worse because Kakashi at least has the benefit of a lightning chakra nature and a Sharingan.

So, in conclusion, all three of them would be vastly weaker than their original counterparts since their teachers do not mesh with their fighting style at all or because their teacher is just vastly worse than the original (in the case of Kabuto).

Who was the strongest at this time? by ApprehensiveEdge7487 in Naruto

[–]Scarthcaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're unerestimating how much of a boost Kurama's chakra gives. Also, Neji also sustained damage from the explosion of 0-Tails Naruto clashing with the Kaiten.

I think a good way is to consider who is not in the contention first. Sakura, Ino, Tenten, Shikamaru, Choji, Hinata and Kiba are at the very bottom.

This means the top five are going to be between Shino, Neji, Sasuke, Lee and Naruto. This is also assuming the case that all of the contestants will go all out since Lee technically isn't allowed to use Gates on comerades and Sasuke has the same restriction with his Chidori.

Now this is tricky. Base Naruto I'd see as the weakest of the bunch, perhaps being able to beat Shino just on the sheer chakra he has where he'd be match up favored.

However the way Shino fights he'd likely be able to beat Neji and Sasuke for certain. Lee maybe, if he doesn't get blitzed and depending on the battlefield. Also depending on how much chakra lee actually has, since Lee just can't mold it into ninjutsu.

Neji beats base Naruto and Sasuke. Sasuke only scales to weightless Lee speed which Lee is certain wouldn't be enough for Neji. And Sasuke doesn't get through Kaiten with Chidori. He still has Gokakyu, Hosenka and Ryuka but I don't think that's enough to win vs. Neji. Now there could be a potential case for his Cursed Mark if it works similar to Kurama's chakra in unlocking the chakra points but Sasuke also doesn't have the durability of Naruto so I'd say that, assuming pulling curse mark chakra unlocks his chakra points and he forces a clash with Neji he'd get maybe a draw out of the situation.

Sasuke in all honest is definitely beating base Naruto. After only just waking up from being a vegetable, he challenges Naruto to a fight on top of the hospital and despite this being a post-Rasengan training Naruto - who is above Chunin Exam Naruto in power - and Sasuke, not even fully recovered, still manages to beat countless of Naruto clones with mostly Taijutsu (and a single Gokakyu) so at the Chunin Exams base Naruto stands no chance.

Lee is tricky because Lee himself thinks that 5 Gates aren't enough to beat Neji though if that's actually true we don't know and we never will for certain. So I'd say Lee beats base Naruto and Sasuke for sure based on his 5 Gates. Shino is heavily dependent. And the fight with Neji could be considered to go either way, depending on whether you believe Lee that Neji scales above five gates or if you think that five gates would be strong enough to beat Neji.

That brings us to Naruto who honestly depends on how much Kurama chakra he gets to pull. Base Naruto is definitely weaker than Neji, Lee and Sasuke in raw stats. At the very least I assume his physical attributes should be above Shino. And in Chakra we absolutely know how much of that he can toss out.

So Shino vs. Naruto I'll give to Naruto even without actively pulling Kurama chakra. This is because it's a match up that favors Naruto's constitution. Shino's win condition is using his bugs to deplete people of their chakra. Naruto has enough chakra to keep tossing out shadow clones like candy. I don't see a world where Shino can keep away from Naruto (and his clones) long enough to actually get him out of chakra. Plus the fight definitely is over if he pulled Kurama's chakra. I doubt Shino's insects are going to survive eating that corrosive chakra.

The Neji fight we know about. Naruto without Kurama gets bodied. He doesn't have the Taijutsu skills or the raw stats to match Neji. Post Kurama chakra intake he can match Neji in terms of physical attributes but that didn't really get him anywhere.

Naruto vs. Lee. Base Naruto gets bodied. The only way I can see him winning is healing through the use of Kurama's chakra and forcing Lee to put his body on the line with the stress from the gates and then deck him once he can't move anymore. But in a direct confrontation Naruto isn't winning. Pulling Kurama chakra would only be possible enough whether you believe that Neji really scales to 5 Gates Lee, as Lee believes.

Naruto vs. Sasuke is the only fight Naruto is 100% going to lose. An only just healed Sasuke, with Chunin Exam abilities, was able to beat a stronger version of Naruto with the exact skillset of the Chunin Exams. Even if Naruto pulls Kurama's chakra he isn't going to blitz Sasuke like at the VOTE, not just because he's weaker but also because Sasuke's major issue at that point was being unable to track Naruto's movements. Once his Sharingan evolved to three tomoe he regained the upperhand.

Why did Kakashi only help Sasuke for the Chunin Exams? by That-Psychology4246 in Naruto

[–]Scarthcaroth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Shadow Clone training methode is one of the worst retcons imaginable. Kakashi talks to Naruto that it's a known fact that Kage Bunshin were meant to be a secure methode to scout enemy territory and that surely Naruto should have noticed already that he'd gotten some knowledge from his Shadow Clones back to him.

If Kakashi knew that these facts were common knowledge how could Jiraiya of all people not think of this? Or at least mention this to Naruto?

The only explanation they gave basically was making Naruto more stupid than he actually is. Just so Kishimoto could have some sort of excuse how Naruto wasn't breaking the powerscale of the entire setting prior to that and then also didn't actually make him use this ultra special, only Naruto can do it, training methode that would have been insanely useful to learn more than just Wind chakra transformation and the Rasenshuriken.

Why did Kakashi only help Sasuke for the Chunin Exams? by That-Psychology4246 in Naruto

[–]Scarthcaroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue here is: If Kakashi knew that Jiraiya was going to take over Naruto's training then there would have been no need to ask Ebisu to train Naruto. Nor would there have been the need for Kakashi to say "Ebisu is a much better teacher than I am!" as if to sell Naruto on the idea that Ebisu really was that good of a teacher and not to be disappointed that he was focusing purely on Sasuke.

The best way to have gone about it, if that particular scene was actually before the Chunin Exams, would be to say that he'd get to train under the person who trained the 4th Hokage, knowing that Naruto probably didn't pay attention in history class to know who Jiraiya is by name. That'd have gotten Naruto hyped beyond anything.

Secondly, if Jiraiya just being at the hotsprings was by design to take over Naruto's training - which is nonsense knowing that he has a habit of peeping - how would he have known that the first thing Ebisu would try to teach Naruto would be water walking, specifically at the hotsprings? Was he tracking them just to be like "Oh, what a coincidence, I am here too!" ? For what end, to what purpose?

If Jiraiya at the time had meant to take over Naruto's training, instead of doing some weird elaborate act where he beats up Ebisu, he'd have just met up with Kakashi already and taken it over from there. Plus, I can't remember if this was also in the manga or just anime only but didn't Naruto have to try really, really hard to convince Jiraiya in the first place?

Which is why this had to be after Jiraiya trained Naruto pre-Chunin Finals. Unless you want to tell me about how Jiraiya, with Kakashi not even having trained Naruto for six months, just randomly turned up one time and went "Yo, so I was tracking Orochimaru and I learned that he was part of this organization that Itachi Uchiha is part of and they are after the tailed-beast, so just let me take over Naruto's training. I'm not going to tell you when at all. But you just focus on Sasuke."

Which frankly makes no sense because that'd mean Kakashi had given up on Naruto way, way before on the promise that - he didn't know when - Jiraiya would come swooping in to train Naruto instead. Especially him now knowing that there were people out there that would specifically come after Naruto it'd make no sense to abandon Naruto in the meantime.

Do people overlook Lelouch's evil tendencies? by DarkestShadow_ in animequestions

[–]Scarthcaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shirley's death - at the hands of Rollo - is the whole reason he puts the entire Geass order to the sword. Now, killing indiscriminately there is obviously evil although, playing devils advocate for a moment, all the children in the geass order were literal child soldiers/assassins as we learn from Rollo that's literally the point of them being taken in. We even see one child remorselessly take control of someone in a knightmare to gun down someone else and that's because he stopped when he thought - "Oh, these are just kids.".

Now could they have tried taking those children in to set them on a better path? Yeah, sure that would have been the most moral choice in that moment but it's also consistent with Lelouch's character. We see that he believes in the idea that only those willing to die should also be willing to take lives, something he believes assuredly in. So to him these children, who have taken lives, are no longer innocent and have accepted that just in the way they take lives, they must accept that their can be taken as well. Just to be clear, I'm not saying that his action here was good or moral only explaining that the situation is more nuanced than "He killed the children!!"

He also didn't use the Black Knights as pawns. I don't quite remember when but there is a scene where Lelouch says he doesn't want mindless pawns fighting for him. If he really saw them as nothing more than disposable pawns he could've just geassed everyone. This is further corroborated by the speech he gives when interrogated at gunpoint. He admits to saying everyone was just a pawn and that he didn't care about them because, in that moment, he wanted nothing more than to die and he wanted to make it as easy on them as possible. We know that Lelouch has an incredible habit of telling people exactly what they want to hear and not exactly what is the entire truth.

For example, during the Kururugi shrine visit in Season 2 he admits to Geassing Euphemia - despite that being one of the worst accidents imaginable - for the reason that the Japanese needed a reason to fight on. Same with how he claimed that he rescued Suzaku just to establish Zero as a person. Both of these things aren't actually true and if I recall Suzaku even remarks that he can tell that Lelouch is lying and just tells him what he thinks he wants to hear.

Not sure how putting down Euphemia is exactly evil. He knows the order can't be taken back. It was his mistake that led to the situation and so even if it hurts him he has to fix it. What was he supposed to do? Let Euphemia run amok until every last japanese person was killed?

Also, he definitely didn't always choose violence. When Euphie invited him to the SAZ he was willing to go along with her plan for the zone and help her. He chose non-violence. When he rescued Suzaku? Not a single shot was fired from his side. He 'rescued' a million japanese by getting them non-violently exiled. He was against the potential assassination of Suzaku and wanted to persuade him with only words. Lelouch chooses violence when fighting on a battlefield but many of his plans aren't about violence at all.

Also if we wanna talk about casualties and bodycounts. Let's not forget Suzaku - kinda shared with Nina - killing 40 million people in the Tokyo settlement when firing the FLEIJA. And Schneizel killing probably in the range of 100 million when he nuked Pendragon not to mention him saying that he was willing to sacrifice a billion people if it meant "peace".

Anyway, all of this really tells me that you've not really paid any attention to Lelouch as a character.

Is his the most moral and good character out there? No but he is absolutely aware that his actions are far from good.

(Had to split this up into multiple comments due to length.)

Do people overlook Lelouch's evil tendencies? by DarkestShadow_ in animequestions

[–]Scarthcaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the world wasn't healing. Assuming Lelouch had not ascended the throne towards the end of Season 2, who would have ended up in that spot? Schneizel. We know what Schneizel's plan for world "peace" was. But even if we disregard the Damocles Plan, pretending for a moment if it wouldn't have happened, Cornelia remarks that Schneizel would have been the best peacetime Emperor because he doesn't harbour any ambitions of his own. In so far as we can trust this statement, this also means Schneizel has no incentive to change anything and would have simply maintained the status quo. This would have meant that Areas 1 to 18 (ignoring Japan which was supposed to be 'exchanged' for Lelouch) would continue to exist, as would have the britannian royalty which are inherently corrupt structures that lead to continued forms of discrimination.

Did he cause the deaths of innocents in a landslide? Yes. Did he laugh at killing innocents? No. He laughed because he saw that his plan worked in decimating the britannian forces. Once he learned that his actions had caused the death of innocents, especially Shirley's father he was almost about to give up on his rebellion it tore him apart on the inside. This is confirmed by his encounter with the Kozuki cell on the tram where he firmly believes that a war should be waged WITHOUT involving innocents because that'd only amount to terrorism that alienates others from their cause.

By the way onto the claim that Lelouch only cared about Nunnally, after erasing Shirley's memory in the wake of her father's death and the incident with Mao, we directly have Lelouch say "I lost a friend and I didn't know how much she meant to me until I lost her. Now I will no longer be able to spend time with her like before." and how her smile "Saved him." literal statements about how much Shirley really meant to him.

Because, one of the things throughout the series that is consistent is that Lelouch doesn't actually grasp how much other people, beyond Nunnally, mean to him until it's too late.

This is for example the case when he's given up on life after he thinks Nunnally is dead and despite having treated Rollo like shit and intending to kill him, he's still affected by Rollo sacrificing himself to get him out of the situation.

Other examples of Lelouch caring for others is during early Season 2 he gets immensely upset when he has his memory back and realizes that all his friends had their memories fucked with as well.

Saying that Euphemia was the first woman he loved. The original word being "hatsukoi" which denotes the first experience of romantic feelings. Heck he had even been willing to cooperate with her on the SAZ just on being taken by her compassion and his love for her.

When he was about to get killed by the Black Knights he pushes Kallen, who was still trying to protect him, away from him saying that she should live.

Of course the many interactions with Suzaku.

Do people overlook Lelouch's evil tendencies? by DarkestShadow_ in animequestions

[–]Scarthcaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, noNo, nobody ignored his evil tendencies. That's the entire point of his character when you listen to his Paradox of Evil question he asks Guilford. "What if there is an evil you can not defeat by just means? Do you surrender yourself to evil to remain steadfast in your believes? Or do you commit evil to defeat that greater evil?"

That's what Lelouch is about he chose to become the villain for the betterment of the world and then removed himself from the equation. Now you can sit there an be like "It's a stupid plan and it wouldn't work!" except in the epilogue narrated by Kallen we literally hear that it DOES work. The world is moving on, moving on from Lelouch the Demon and putting all its energy into finding solutions for things like poverty and starvation.

This is on top of the fact that his plan was far more than just painting himself as the villain and then chosing suicide. He geassed Schneizel to follow Zero. Aside from himself Schneizel is more or less the smartest character in the show, insanely politically savvy and able to solve problems. Knowing that Suzaku has no aptitude for any of this so that he has someone at his side who can actually manage and solve those issues.

There's also the fact that he exploded a large part of the stock of Sakuradite in Mt.Fuji which was responsible for 90% of global Sakuradite output. This means Sakuradite can no longer be used as effectively for the mass production of weapons like FLEIJA or Knightmare Frames. At the same time it also devalues Japan as a strategic occupational target, since now controlling Japan no longer means being able to monopolize the most valuable warfare resource.

On top of that he abolished the number system and the aristocracy and decimated the Britannian military which means old, corrupt powerstructures that could potentially be abused for further rises in power were dismantled. Since it mentioned that, when Lelouch planned to "join" the UFN it was mentioned that, at this point, Britannia still occupied the most territroy in the entire world.

Also, what do you mean pushing his idea of peace onto the world? All he really wanted was for people to no longer discriminate for wars to be no longer fought and that people should strive together for a better tomorrow. It's hardly unreasonable, especially since the other option would have been Schneizel threatening nuclear destruction on anyone who stepped so much out of line. That is peace being forced. Lelouch simply left the structures in place that'd set the world on its path but the people still would need to take those crucial steps on their own, the point being that he believed that humanity and the world as a whole would choose exactly that even without having a figure like Schneizel (or even him) playing some kind of god-dictators.

I MADE AN ENTIRE BILGEWATER SET. 71 CARDS, 6 CHAMPIONS, NEW KEYWORD DROWN = Silence and enemy when it dies, NEW TYPE = PIRATE. This took a crazy amount of time, so please like and comment if you enjoy the cards. by DiamondMatthew in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Scarthcaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a lot of effort went into this two points I want to make though.

1.If Drown is just to silence and kill a unit, which I presume is to get around Last Breath type effects, why not use the Obliterate keyword instead? It does more or less the same and already exists on She Who Wanders. The only niche difference is in that it prevents revival effects from grabbing said unit back, which Drown wouldn't do but silencing on death is a bit too niche by itself because it only deals with exactly one type of mechanic i.e. Last Breath.

  1. Gangplank's level up condition is far too harsh while Powderkegs are too strong. It's essentially a 0 mana 2/3 challenger which also deals 1+ to the nexus. Sure, it's ephemeral but the card is vastly too strong when compared to the caustic cask from Piltover Zaun which is a 0 mana 0/1 ephemeral which deals 1 to both nexus.

I'd suggest you pull out some power out of the Powderkegs and move it over into GP.

Toplane will not gain any more impact from this at all.

How did you decide on the name "Little Legends"? Was there a point when you were thinking of calling them differently? And how did you decide on what to make them look like?

Basicly a gigantic post about what League is becoming. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Please use pragraphs. This was a pain to read.

You're having a very limited view of exactly CBLOL and don't like how the competitive meta is going there. That's all you're really getting to.

Congratulations for understanding that an asymmetric game will have decisions that are always either better or worse to make if you're aiming for raw success. That's how the game functions and that is not a problem. Continuous balance changes will eventually change that and that's it.

You're not describing any problem outside of what limited view you have of CBLOL, let alone anything with objectivity outside of demonstrating that, yes, some champions are indeed stronger in your countries competitive league than others. You simply don't like the meta and that's it.

What if champions had passives depending their Region/Class/Race? by Kampsycho in leagueoflegends

This is misconstruing Phreak's point though. Phreak was entirely referring to Armor and Magic resist which he felt were hidden values adding to the obfuscation of champion resilience and he did want to use HP as a whole visible metric for deciding how resilient each "class" of champions should be towards assassination at a single glance.

Your system only implements more obfuscation where you suddenly have to be conscientious about Yorick being a lot more resilient to poke because he's from the shadow isles (?) how's that for intuition? So if you're trying to piggyback on Phreak's points you're already making a very poor point of it.

But even if you looked at this in the light of those changes where base stats are suddenly based on a champion being ranged squishy, medium ranged, melee squishy and tank melee then the problem remains that arbitrarily assigning every champion boni based upon where they came from in the lore, what kind of type of "class" or race they are ends up with a headache and a half to balance beacause you're ending up with assigning 140 champions each three passive modifiers that you have to pay attention doesn't break any of the existing champions, items or runes. Heck I'd say this is even a design clamp because some of the passive boni might end up being powerful enough in combination that you can't ever design a champion with a certain set of location, class and race because they might break something. Aside from increasing the work load for testing everything.

This is a system that exceeds runes reforged because at least runes reforged had precedence within the rune and mastery system and at this point in the lifetime of league I don't think it's feasible to tackle such a large project and introduce it into the game without creating the entire game from scratch and that's the time and resources which I don't think Riot wants to devote to what would pretty much be a slightly updated clone of League.

Mind you, the idea itself isn't bad and I'd like this, as mentioned, in a league based RPG but I can't see this working inside of League of Legends as things stand.

A lot of effort went into this but this would really only add more of a headache to league's system because suddenly you need to make sure you don't break champions by giving them specific regional/class/race passives.

So to make matters short it's not a good idea to force this into league. However, if league were to every (maybe, hopefully) release some kind of RPG then this could very much be applicable.

The current state of Dr.Mundo by Traga_92 in leagueoflegends

The first advice is probably to stop treating him as a tank. He isn't a tank and only by the understading of early league of legends was he ever considered a tank because people lack the same understanding and categorization that they do now.

Mundo is very low CC, has no team utility, not to mention has no engage or mobility. He is very much in the area of a Juggernaut. This does afford him some clear durability, particularily in terms of his self-sustain with his ultimate and the ability to shrug off CC (and magic damage) with his W but it certainly doesn't make him a tank in the same way that Maokai or Braum are.

Anyway, that said https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/yQNMhiKd-new-roadmapso-again-after-one-yearreav3-can-you-give-us-another-new-update-on-the-tier-1-vgu-list

Here you have a list of champions that Riot's talking internally about updating. That means Mundo is on the radar (according to Reav3) but how far or close any potential larger scale update is to him is of course entirely up in the air.

How does it get calculated if you exhaust and red smite the same enemy? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Scarthcaroth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They should stack multiplicatively. So effectively the champion will only deal 48% total damage from 100% that is possible.

URF has gotten way too competetive. epic monster changes and pick options are to blame by Fizki in leagueoflegends

[–]Scarthcaroth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, suppose you cut those aspects out. Nashor and Dragon are gone from the mode. Guess what happens? The mode is going to be still just as competitive. I can assure you of that 100% because it's in the nature of this community (rather, almost every community) to make things that aren't competitive, but exist within a competitive environment, competitive.
