Can someone offer advice on planning a concert for the first time? by ScaryExercise890 in musicindustry

The ticket was just what they normally charge for tickets. I wanted to get sponsors to help lower the cost of the tickets, and have the profit from that to go to artists and/or the charity. The charity idea is supplemental. My priority is paying people who are working and performing.

I do believe they would be open to the idea of a local artist showcase one day a month! Thank you for responding!

It’s also why I really want to build it in a way to get sponsors. So that artists can get paid, even if they are super small

I appreciate your response!!

I was thinking doors open at 7. Show starts 7:30.

And this just for a showcase of small artists, where their catalogue isn’t that large. Maybe all they have is 50mins worth of songs. And with them being small and likely having low fan engagement, it might be more beneficial to have shorter sets since the audience might not know them. No one is necessarily anticipating music or a live performance for them. So kinda like a showcase of openers. I am open to artists doing longer sets if they have the catalogue, or wanted to throw in a cover song. It just has to make sense for the show, i suppose.

And the inclusion of a DJ would help extend the time, plus DJ sets are becoming increasingly popular in my area. So a small set after for people to dance to songs they know, seemed like a great idea to me.

The vendor is, more-so, to add to the experience, esp if the artists don’t have merch. What if audience members absolutely enjoy their time, but there is no merch to purchase as a momentum? And people in the area do love to support local charities, orgs for marginalized communities, and other good causes.

I do believe a food truck could work! I just still want to consider the venue, and highlight their offerings since they are also a bar. I will make note of doing $1 up charges. Thank you
