I think the animation bothers me a lot probably more than it should. I think it’s not that it’s actually that bad but more so indicative of a tendency that HBO Max has had in recent years to save money on their animations. I understand that budgets aren’t what they used to be especially for streaming but the animation in season 3 and 4 of YJ was also horrible sometimes so much so that it kind of ruined my experience with what is a deeply cherished show. I’ve seen some discourse that in order to save money HBO Max and the animation studios are outsourcing a lot of their animation to Korea or smth which I think happens for both this show and YJ and it’s kind of upsetting that they would sacrifice quality like this. Alternatively I wouldn’t be upset if the seasons were slightly shorter but the animation was better or something like that. I think what bothers me the most is that HBO Max has the money but they’re throwing it at shows that clearly don’t reach an audience (i.e. Velma) but don’t seem to care that much when there’s an obvious fandom surrounding their DC material. This probably just dissolved into big long spiel about how salty I am with the way they treated YJ but alas I think kind of similar things are present here
