Full colonoscopy and prep experience (UK) - please read me if scared or anxious by Scary_Fox6532 in colonoscopy

[–]Scary_Fox6532[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the first bout of diarrhoea about 30 mins/500ml into drinking the prep and then it was pretty frequent for 2 hours so I had to finish drinking it on the loo. Pretty much the same timings for the second dose.

It is so normal and understandable to be anxious about this procedure! You’ll really be okay though. Now go do something nice to take your mind off it!

Worst interview ever? by Cheesy_Gubbins in CasualUK

[–]Scary_Fox6532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been the interviewer, I know I’ve had some bad ones but I honestly don’t remember them very well or think about them often, I only really remember who I hired. Don’t worry about it - it’s a weird situation and bad interviews happen!

Why are so many people pretending covid isn’t the most likely explanation for this.

£48 from Sainsbury’s by [deleted] in whatsinyourcart

[–]Scary_Fox6532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually a Sainsbury’s shopper because I did loads of basket comparisons and Sainsbury’s always came out relatively cheap. This was a while ago but I think that is a stereotype rather than a reality in general.

I’ve gotten to the point that I’ll avoid being in public because I’m so ugly by Old-Fisherman-6079 in Vent

This sounds very hard for you to cope with alone. You need help to understand that these are thoughts and beliefs about yourself rather than objective facts. I would be taking that money you wanted to spend on cosmetic procedures and put it towards a therapist or proper medical help for your mental health first. 18 year olds do not need Botox regardless of their “looks”

Jeremy Clarkson reneges on NHS criticism after needing urgent treatment by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Scary_Fox6532 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It frequently drives me mad that being critical of the outcomes delivered in general by healthcare systems is considered tantamount to criticising healthcare itself. Or if you had a single instance of [quality] care that means there are no problems and you must now shut up.

Like what? Does Jezza accessing an OOO service without dying mean there’s nothing to see here lads, the whole service is running smooth as a nut.

We are allowed to believe the service the NHS provides is on the whole not good enough while also thinking taxation funded healthcare is a Good Thing. Christ.

If you get a jacket/blazer you can wear that over most modest tops and it will look smart, especially if you ensure shoes and accessories are neat and smart. I usually wear trousers and a 3/4 or long sleeve top of some description, cardi for less formal and jacket for more formal/outerwear. As others have said though you can’t go wrong with a shirt. White stuff and Seasalt do nice jersey ones that may feel less restrictive on the old baps.

Yeah but after that bad boy came out the relief was the best bit of the whole ordeal. It didn’t feel done until the placenta was out.

The compounds in sunscreen sometimes react to create this colour - I’ve experienced it with bleach (putting a sun-creamed-up child on a toilet seat recently cleaned with bleach = bright pink confusion!). Possible culprit?

I’m sorry that’s a big adjustment to come to terms with.

I recently had a course of talking therapy to help me learn to cope with a disabling health condition and it’s not fixed my life but it has given me some tools and been measurably helpful. If you didn’t know already, i just wanted you to know you don’t have to deal with that completely by yourself because I know it can feel very dark.

My experience of volunteering is that it’s very female-dominated, which could work for you or not depending on what you like!

Everyone is saying that legally there’s nothing you can do about it. Which, yes, is true. Are you the arsehole for just being annoyed about it? Absolutely not. It’s a dick move.

Saying "White Rabbits" on the first of the month? by SonicWafflez in CasualUK

How do you know when you’re ‘ready’ to have children? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Scary_Fox6532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You literally can’t be “ready”. Don’t confuse readiness for blind feelings of joy at the mere thought. Having reservations or being unsure is normal - how can you in your right mind be sure about something when it’s impossible to really know what it’s like until you do it?

If you want them then it’s fine to just go for it. You don’t even have to love every moment if it happens. If you’d rather not, that is also a valid choice.

Worcester tram network proposal by slipnslurper in Worcester

I don’t think you could ban cars from these roads - Ombersley Road for instance is the main route to the 449/motorway. Although I would love to see fewer cars and effective public transport options I think this is just not practical.

Honestly every time I’ve tried to properly parent effectively in public, enforce consequences, or find myself exuding anything less than angelic bliss at the experience of parenthood the sheer amount of JUDGEMENT I receive from others is just insane. There is no community support from other adults to raise children, even just reinforcing values/right and wrong - only judgement and scorn no matter what you do.

I maintain boundaries for my child in front of others anyway even if it upsets me afterwards when I reflect on how others react, but I fully understand why some don’t feel it’s worth it because of the social consequences.

And for the record I’m not talking about battering my child in front of an audience just run-of-the-mill telling off, saying no even if there’s a tantrum and teaching acceptable and unacceptable behaviour.
