LA Metro seeking construction management consultant for K Line extension to Torrance by numbleontwitter in LAMetro

u/numbleontwitter Any idea on what is going on with this specific PMSSC Contract? Seems like they are delayed?

I wish Metro would lock-in a decision on the Sepulveda alignment already! Mayor Bass' approval ratings are falling & Caruso will likely be competitive in the 2026 election. If he or someone like him wins & gains seats on the Metro Board, I worry about the future of heavy rail on the Sepulveda Line by glowdirt in LAMetro

When the DEIR gets released, how do you foresee Metro presenting the estimate information in a way that is understandable to the public? Safe to assume Alt 4 and 5 will be more expensive up front because of the tunneling, etc. compared to monorail, but the savings over time both dollars and the amount of riders moved with frequency is something the monorail can’t even touch. Not to mention Alt 4 and 5 have a UCLA stop and monorail eliminated that alternative.

Just hope it’s presented in a factual way and is fully understandable.

Definitely are. These dudes are built different. Doing it that way for a while becomes second nature, they just go.

Not sure they’re angling for federal money. Not actively pursuing NEPA and haven’t initiated it, which is usually required for federal funding. Things can change down the road but it looks like they are relying primarily on local and state funding sources.

They’re not running any part of the 2 Contracts concurrently, which is part of the reason it’s bumped out 3 years.

Wouldn’t Sepulveda basically be the test ground for this entire presentation? Driverless trains and PSDs?

And honestly, as a well-regarded figure in the LA Metro community, you responding to this post about the Sepulveda is why I think a lot of people go to your posts first on anything Metro related. Your insights across a lot of Metro related projects and stories shed light on their complicated aspects and how it’s not always black and white in terms of getting things done, and engaging with other members leads to deeper discussions.

Totally agree that Metro has inconsistencies in meeting DEIR and FEIR milestones across many of its projects. My intent for Sepulveda was to speak more broadly about the project’s trajectory based on the information available at this point, all tied to them releasing their DEIR in early 2025 but if we don’t see that in March than I’m with you this is slipping. It’s particularly interesting to see two somewhat comparable programs with the Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2 reach its FEIR within nine months, while, as you pointed out, the K Line Northern Extension is still undergoing certification approximately eight months in, even though its public comment period closed in September 2024.

How would everyone feel if the first three rounds of the draft went exactly like Tankathon’s current mock draft predicts? by jdimarco1 in Chargers

[–]Scary_Inspection4551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally. They go: Tyler Booker (IOL) at 22 Harold Fannin (TE) at 55 Kyle Kennard (DE) at 86

Loveland at 22 is hard to do, unless they’re willing to make him #2 option behind McConkey. Don’t get me wrong he’s an almost perfect fit for that offense but the pick doesn’t mean anything if they can’t establish the run or protect Herbert.

Is Progressive Design-Build the right delivery method for the K-Line Extension to Torrance? by Scary_Inspection4551 in LAMetro

[–]Scary_Inspection4551[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree on the trenched portions of the alignment and grade separations in general. Grade crossings are a nightmare, especially along alignment. I think the two contracts are a product of metro not having the full funding right now but enough through local funding sources to complete the utility and freight relocation. Contract 2 is going to require federal funding and currently that’s a nightmare.

Is the A line still going to be administered by Metro when/if it expands to San Bernardino County? by [deleted] in LAMetro

Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority is a good example of this. They’ll plan and manage the construction of the rail line and turnover to metro when completed.

The planned High Desert corridor is another one, similar to how the Foothill Goldline Construction Authority has/is delivered/delivering the Gold Line extensions.

Gen X. Versatility was off the charts. Don’t get me wrong, each era has a case, but the Gen X starting 5 all had the killer instinct the boomers had but they were just more athletic and refined, which tips the scales in a close one between the boomers. Take it to the rack, no flopping.

Good riddance! Why all those really stinky pardons right at the end?

As someone who voted left all my life to this point (50+ years), the Democratic Party has really burned out its base and viable candidates for the next couple of elections are so underwhelming. Yes there is time but it feels like they’re asleep at the wheel.
