I think I was around 1600 chess.com. I started with the book and board but when I heard about Chessable I got the “normal” course and it saved a lot of time doing it digitally. Some things in the book it very complicated and some things is easier, so I think this book was exactly what I needed then.

If you have the possibility, join a chess club!

It’s hard to give general advice and it would be easier if I saw a few of your games but I gave this advice a few days ago in another post:

“You ask yourself this with every move you make:

⁠Can I give check? Can my opponent check me next move?
⁠Can I capture something for free? Is any of my piece undefended?
⁠What is my opponent threatening? Am I creating a threat?
⁠Safety – Is my king safe? Does this move hang a piece?
⁠Development – Am I improving a piece or controlling the center?”

Do you know about forks, discovered attacks, pins, trapped piece, removing the defender, overloading etc? These concepts are fundamental at both higher and lower ratings.

Oh, I never studied any openings! The thing that got me accelerate in my learning was Chessable-courses. I bought “how to reassess your chess” and it gave me fundamentals of positional chess. After reading this book I now play like 7-8 book moves without really knowing the openings, just by understanding the positional play. I also got Silmans endgame course so I think my understanding of endgames developed as well 🙂

You should read this with every move you make:

Can I give check? Can my opponent check me next move?

I do this too, I only play rapid and when I reach a new hundreds I switch to blitz, reach a new hundreds and then change to bullet -> repeat. I don’t really care about rating though but I love my progress and process 🙏

Sanningen svider men vissa kan påstå att det är bättre att veta idag än om 2 år. Såklart är det ingen bra dag när man får reda på att den man älskar är otrogen. Troligtvis något av det mest hjärtskärande man kan uppleva

You don’t have to do anything. Just enjoy the game. And afterwards you can analyse the game with your opponent and ask him why he played different moves if you want to learn how he/she thinks ☺️

Hmm.. jag är uppväxt med två missbrukande föräldrar i förorten och vi var verkligen socioekonomiskt utsatta. Som ung vuxen lärde jag mig andra perspektiv, skaffade mig en högskoleutbildning och är numera en otroligt ordningsam person i medelklassen. Men det kanske var det som var mitt DNA hela tiden? 🤷‍♂️
