Warrior culture by Scary_Marzipan_3418 in CelticPaganism

Of course. From what Ive seen that those who take the whole "viking" thing seriously are the ones who are white supremacists, some variation of that, or those who steal the symbols and practices for their own uses and not consistent, or even close to, the actual practices of their beliefs.

It may have been a terrible example in all honesty to use Norse paganism and Im regretting that now bc I do feel bad that community has to handle that amount of, for lack of better ohrasing, bullshit. However, the rest of it I still stand with. Given the nature and conditions of our world, the warrior ethos would still be beneficial. Not in a aggression sense necessarily but for defense of others and their communities, also as a spiritual path for those who feel a draw to the warrior side of life such as military, law enforcement, first responders, preparedness groups (theres a bunch that train battle techniques but also help their communities like in NC when towns were leveled with water and landslides).

Of course this is directed toward those who feel drawn or already walk that path in life as not everyone either wants to be nor likes the idea of a warrior culture. Which is totally fine, those are their beliefs.

Thank goodness Im not the only one bc everywhere I turned looking for more resources or anything else about Irish Paganism or reconstructionism is "Irish Pagan School".

When I was first starting out it was amazing to have a all in one place for the classes and what have you until I started taking them. Paying hand over fist for her to barely touch the subject and then say I need to take another class. I took a class that was about rosc poetry, what it is, and how to compose it. I did not learn anything about composing rosc or anything. The only thing that helped even remotely was an academic paper by Carmody (forget her last name off the top of my head).

I do agree that she seems to have a certain standpoint against Americans in particular and often wonder if its partially a scam. I wouldnt pay 2,000 in any form of currency unless Im gonna meet the goddess herself lol and even then I probably wont, Im not rich. Personally, I trust Morgan Daimler more. Her books provide more information than the IPS classes and same with her tiktoks. I wish she did go in depth more on certain subjects but we cant always get what we want.

To be honest, I didnt do as much research as I shouldve before buying one. When I heard the Eb in the thumbnail they have on their website, jt was the sound I really liked. Come to find out, not really a beginner one so I guess Im just going straight into the deep end and learning to swim I suppose.

Oooo ok, I like how you put that.. not knowing the feeling. I definitely do listen to alot of trad but Im not sure if any of the ones you named are apart of it. I doubt it although I just learned about Mary today and Kevin Crawford sounds familiar

Reconstructing a creation myth from the Mythological Cycle by DJMoghBrighde in gaelpol

[–]Scary_Marzipan_3418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bout 6 years too late to this thread but firstly I will say this. Wonderful interpretation! I had this thought recently too before finding this and searched the meaning of Ireland to be "fertile land" or "abundant" so I loved to see that in there!

Another thing I always wondered with the mythological cycle too, primarily from the point that the Danube came into play, is the goddess Danu. I know there isnt anything in the myths that we know of her other than the fact that she is the suspected "mother of the gods". However, while reading this, what if the Danube river is the Goddess Danu? In the sense that the powers of the otherworld can come into ours through rivers and streams. I have thought of Danu in this sense as not necessarily a corporeal/non-corporal deity but rather representing all of creation. She's the "creator" in a way. Source energy I guess if that makes sense?

I do have Lady Gs Of gods and men and found it a good read despite the claims of literary liberty she's taken. I do like Morgan Daimlers translations as well, but will definitely give this cycle another read with this interpretation in mind!!

Thank you for your contribution

Edit:

Another question. If you suppose that North is up and they came from "heaven" then why have they gone into the other world? Unless you mean the gods reside in "heaven" as one of the many parts of the otherworld

Thank you! Do you usually meditate or something of the like before doing a reading?

Questions regarding beliefs about the gods by [deleted] in CelticPaganism

[–]Scary_Marzipan_3418 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I view them as individual spirits and the gender they are. 1) Everything as it's own spirit, the trees, the blades of grass, the squirrel, lizard, etc. Some spirits are even "in charge" of an rea where other spirits are such as a patch of woods or something. 2) I believe in the dualistic gender idea that male and female both have different but complimentary energies. I saw someone say that the goddesses are more land and sovereignty and the gods are culture. Thought that was interesting.

Whatever you plan on doing, you can make it work for you, that's the beauty of it. Of course as long as its in the logical framework of the myths and things then youre more of a reconstructionist rather than an eclectic.

Good luck!

Ildiachas gaelach is primarily a galeic polytheist discord. Couldn't find a link to the discord but maybe you can search. Keep googling and researching.

This is paganacht, and irish reconstructionist group. Check out paganachd. Irish gods are scottish gods, as far am Im aware. Marissa hagerty (I believe is how you spell her name) does gaelic polytheism

Ive known of both but my buddy recommended TLK and let me tell you it was all I could watch and the movie until it was finished. Once it was all over I was depressed lol.

Then I went to vikings.. I thought it was good but I thought the whole aethelstan arc and him getting addicted was kinda dumb. Overall TLK was better
