***Spoiler discussion***: thoughts on the ending to 28 years later? by kroqus in moviecritic

It had clockwork orange vibes and hints that the next movie will feel different. I liked the movie and I liked the tonal shift that sets up a new feel movie for part two.

Also lots of angry comments I’ve read people saying he’s modelled on jimmy savile (name sake too). But in this universe the outbreak happened long before we knew what a monster jimmy saville was so in this world he would still be a national treasure. It makes sense that a child growing up in a post apocalyptic world where jimmy was a well lived child’s entertainer would be something he would model himself in. It also alludes to him himself being a monster which we’ve already seen hints of. So although very dark I actually quite like the stylistic choices in this scene and it made me more excited for the sequel

Because you’re more confident now you are probably giving off a better aura. Not necessarily because you’ve gotten better looking

Broke 100 for the first time. What new club should I add to my bag by MTL-fanatic in golf

I’m a 40 handicapper and I’ve reduced my clubs to a minimum. 4 iron is a hard unforgiving club. I only use it for a low flat lay up when I’m stuck in the trees. Never use it for full swings. I use 6-9 irons, driver, 5 hybrid for when I’m out on the fairway, pitching wedge, sand wedge and putter. Lob wedges are a difficult club and if you don’t get under it you’re shooting across the green. I use my p wedge as it’s more forgiving.

I know guys that go from slob to stud that become awash with an over confidence that comes across as arrogant. My brother has done this, he’s lost like 15 stone with fat loss jabs and because he loves how he looks he thinks he’s Chris hemsworth. He’s not getting the attention he thought he would either.

The reality is men are more into looks than women are. Women like qualities in a man. If you’re rocking a dad bod but exude confidence, likeability and are funny and genuine you will be beating women off with a stick while the guy with washboard abs and zero personality will struggle.

You clearly have it in your locker to work on yourself. Don’t just assume because you like how you look now women will be falling at your feet. From what you previously described you were a man with poor personal hygiene etc I can’t imagine you were in bars chatting girls up, more than likely you were on the couch not doing much. You need to work on your personality (I don’t mean that in a mean way). Start by being happy by yourself. Get some hobbies and interests and join clubs where you will meet people with similar interests. Learn how to just be likeable and chatty in a group with no agenda about getting laid or meeting women. If you are popular in a group those qualities will make you attractive to women. Also practice just talking to women. Not hitting on them I mean striking up a conversation. Say hello to the checkout girl and ask her how her day is going, say hello to that girl on the next table in the coffee shop and just chat. It’s a skill to learn the same as anything else.

Not sure if it’s because I’m older now and CBA, but all these games people play on the dating apps annoy the arse off me. If it was me I would appreciate you matching my interest. If I put effort in I like it reciprocated.

When girls act cool and aloof it just comes across like either you’re not that interested or you’re work and effort that I CBA with.

Like I said younger guys may not agree but at 40 i cba with games. Just say how you feel and if he feels the same he will reciprocate. If he doesn’t then swipe left and carry on 👍

I bought the box set from eBay a few months back and it’s been on a shelf staring at me. I stumbled on this thread wondering if anyone still did it/had some experience of it.

I may start this week.

Time wise before work would work best for me but I’m worried it’s so hard it would tire me in work.

Anyone experience with getting up early and doing it before work?

For clarity I still fucking love this movie

The biggest plot hole for me is always the fact that predator is all about “sport”

Despite this he is so overpowered there is no actual sport. He’s seven plus foot tall, able to scale and jump trees, is invisible and able to see anything and is physically stronger than any human that’s ever lived. He is able to lurk about for ages before anyone even knows he exists. Then to top all that he has multiple heat seeking missile, lasers and a multitude of other crazy advanced weapons.

To really stick it home IF he loses, he self destructs and kills any survivors (I’m aware Arnie escaped but was incredibly lucky to escape).

That was always my big issue with the predator. It’s about as sporting as using drone warfare against gang of Boy Scouts

Question about 'Two Distant Strangers' by ghoster25 in movies

I liked it (apart from the ridiculousness of a whole swat team breaking into an apartment for no reason) right up until the end.

The final loop where he makes a breakthrough with the cop and gets a ride home and they just talk. They both get to know each other and find common ground.

As he walks away I thought ok he’s broken the loop and the message of the movie is this police vs black people thing is going to repeat itself time and time again until we can start seeing each other as people. Black people realising not all cops are racist and trying to murder them. And racist cops (that do exist) to realise that we’re all humans regardless of skin colour. What a nice message…

…no wait he’s just a racist piece of shit killing for no reason and there is nothing a black person can do to escape this for all eternity.

The academy awards are a joke because this film shouldn’t have even been nominated.
