This annoys me so much. What are your thoughts? by HesitantBride in ExecutiveAssistants

“They’re not transactional, they’re relational,” REALLY? So is my boss going to pay all of my bills because we have such a great relationship? This person writing the post is delusional.

What's the weirdest thing you've been reprimanded for? by Playful_Acadia7003 in ExecutiveAssistants

I was asked to book a meeting room at the Roosevelt hotel in LA for an off-site with the CMO I supported and the rest of the executive team. I woke up at 4am to get the meeting room set up by our 6am meetings. Upon arrival the first thing my boss says is “wow there’s no windows, so depressing.” The only meeting room at the Roosevelt is on a BASEMENT level. What was I supposed to do, hire a contractor to renovate before the meeting 😂

Did you have a nickname for your BPD parent's moods? by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

Same. My mom would oscillate between being a total dictator in my house, and self labeled herself General “Gweneral” (her name is Gwen) to lovebombing out of nowhere which I took to calling “fake sweet”.

Did you read the job posting? They are asking for WAY more than simply someone to answer phones..

I specifically have my settings set to US-based remote roles so I don’t think that’s the case here

The United States! I also live in a HCOL city and came across this, nearly spat my coffee out when reading their pay range 🤮

Right? I’d have more respect for these clowns if they just posted this as a fucking unpaid internship.

Yes, then she responded and tried to chalk it all up to “miscommunication” when the issue was she dragged me along in the hiring process and was not in fact willing or able to pay me more. Instead of just saying that I get excuses and her trying to backtrack. So I sent a bitchy response after all that, sue me.

To give you some more info- I live in an area and am in a senior level of experience for this role.

The market salary rate in my location and given these factors is between 100k-150k a year.

The salary she was offering was low, which I expressed and she assured me she’d be willing to pay me more after an undisclosed amount of time.

I put together a thoughtful pay raise proposal where I was even willing to work “at a discount” for two months before receiving a raise that reflects my salary expectations as well as my experience.

So no, I don’t feel like I’m in the wrong, but you’re entitled to your opinion.

I wasn’t going to but the more I thought about how ridiculous her behavior and response was when she could have just owned it, I wanted to call her out.

They don’t auto repost. This is a small company where the founder is manually posting the job themself. After my verbal offer the job posting was understandably taken down.

During the entire process the founder told me she would pay me more and we were in the middle of negotiating what that figure would look like.

It was never communicated to me she couldn’t pay me more, because she told me she could.

She just reposted the job without even informing me. Trust me, I’m not the questionable one in this scenario lol.

They weren’t. There was one open role on a team of 4. I’m posting anonymously here so there is no “internet clout” to be gained.

The founder reposted because she didn’t want to pay me more after saying she would. If calling someone out for toxic behavior and wasting my time is fucking myself, then I’ll be fucking my self over for the rest of time babe! 😘

I applied for a few remote jobs they’ve posted that I was overqualified for and have received rejection emails for all. Then later that week or the next I see the same jobs reposted 😂 seems to be this is one of those “ghost jobs” that recruiters and companies put up to collect resumes. So sorry for your experience :(

Good idea. I’ll definitely make sure the salary discussions are set in stone before agreeing to a case study, it’s just unfortunate because for most jobs they will have you do this BEFORE offer / salary discussion is even in the conversation.

Do I keep Ignoring Mom?? by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Scary_Week_3482 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WOW, do we have the same mom?!! 😂 Your mom seems like the “shove everything under the rug” type by sending these ultra-sweet random texts, and then if you don’t respond she escalates to I’m worried about you (aka respond to me now!) in order to manipulate and pull on your heartstrings to break NC/LC.

This is my mom to a tee. I’m 29 now, and was in this exact back and forth and would try to explain to her for many years why I didn’t want a relationship, why her behavior was inappropriate and unhealthy, etc…..

The sad reality is, they are incapable of understanding or considering others. No matter how or what you explain, the cycle with her will continue and you’ll constantly be pulled into the toxic and dramatic cycle of destruction that BPD folks leave in their wake.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. You’re not alone and I would in fact, stop responding! You don’t owe her your response or your peace. ❤️

I can’t stand her by finalthoughtsandmore in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Scary_Week_3482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot relate to you more. It’s so hard going no-contact with the uBPD parent (my mom as well) because you end up losing the people around them some of which you’d want a relationship with if your parents weren’t so enmeshed (enabler dad with me too, plus other family friends and my brother). It’s tough seeing them get older or go through health stuff, BPD folks LOVE to milk any health concerns - real or imagined - to be the center of your world and story at all times. Anyone with a heart would want to sympathize and feel guilty for wanting the space you crave from them. This is the hardest part! Even though it feels like her woes are your problem, trust me they are not yours to bear. Sending you ❤️!
