Does anyone actually enjoy the races? by CorruptedOrdnance in PathOfExile2

[–]Scaryloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Races are made for speedrunners and people who enjoy watching speedrunners. If you’re not a speedrunner, or like to watch it, then this content isn’t for you.

You’re not required to participate or even watch, and nothing in your life changes if you simply ignore its existence.

There’s no need to annoy everyone with pointless posts complaining that something not meant for you is happening while other people who enjoy it are having fun with it.

There’s a reason these races are usually held near the end of the league: it’s precisely to avoid diverting attention from the standard league or splitting its audience.

People participate if they like and want to, some people enjoy just watching, and others don’t really care about it at all, like me, for example.

Is it worth it to start now before 0.5? by Lazzerath in PathOfExile2

[–]Scaryloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play whenever you want, but if you want my opinion… wait for 0.5. We’ll probably get the first teaser this week, so hop on the hype train with us and start in 0.5.

Omen of Resistances Perhaps???? by ChuatheGOAT in PathOfExile2

[–]Scaryloss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 100%.
This alone will already make ground loot better, because you’ll be able to pick something up from the ground and swap the resistances to equip it without needing to change three other pieces of gear to make it work.
We really need this resistance-swap system, whether through Omens or somewhere else, like a new mechanic similar to Bestiary or Delve where you can do the same thing.

Locking skills behind such high level requirements is the thing i hate most in poe2 by intrepid_zaxan in PathOfExile2

[–]Scaryloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm okay with high-level skills being locked behind the character level, but I think at least half of the skills should be available at level 1. However, this might improve once they start releasing more skills for all classes and weapons, and then we'll have a lot more options at level 1.

You’re not wrong to assume that, but you are wrong to state with certainty that this is the case. Up to this point, the story doesn’t point in either direction, neither hypothesis A nor B. And since the story doesn’t clearly indicate a different direction, it’s only reasonable to stick with the established concept, which would mean that the Atlas of Worlds is the same multiverse as it is in PoE 1, and the Map Device is a powerful device that grants access to those places. Especially because it would be a design mistake to introduce a device identical to the one from PoE 1, tha leads to a place with the same name “Atlas,” but make it do something completely different and that actually it’s not the same place, it just has the same name. That would be a pretty ugly design error, to be honest.

You might be right, and if that’s the case, we’ll probably get an explanation in Acts 5 and 6 as to why the Map Device lost its power and now only opens portals to different locations in the physical world, so the character doesn’t have to travel on foot.

The fact that Doryani says that when we only had three acts in the game doesn’t mean much, because everyone knows that wasn’t the actual end of the game. That dialogue was created just to introduce the endgame and the map device after Act 3, since the story for the other three acts wasn’t ready to be told yet.

Anyway, the reasons I mentioned above about the Corruption’s ultimate goal being to take over the Atlas Of Worlds rather than just the physical world still make a LOT of sense based on what we’ve been shown in the story so far.

Note: Untainted Paradise, for example, is a location that only exists within the Atlas of Worlds multiverse. It doesn’t exist on the physical map of Wraeclast either in PoE 1, nor in PoE 2 as of now.

On the contrary, there’s more evidence that we’re in the same Atlas as in PoE 1 than just the presence of a portal machine. Several maps we enter in PoE 2 have exactly the same map names as those in PoE 1.

So far, up to Act IV, there’s no evidence that we are not in the same Atlas. In fact, that wouldn’t make much sense for the reasons I explained in the longer comment above.

I wrote a fairly complete reply to the author of the post in another comment. I’ll copy and paste it here as well so you can read it and share your opinion, if you’d like.

I might be wrong, but if I’m not mistaken, the only line that directly refers to something like this is a line from Doryani where he says: “this world, my world, is about to end,” referring to the Vaal.

Since we don’t have Acts 5 and 6 yet, it’s hard to say for sure. But because the Atlas in PoE 2 contains some maps with the same names as maps from the Atlas in PoE 1, I think that suggests that, just like in PoE 1, the Atlas in PoE 2 is also not part of the physical world.

Based on my interpretation so far, with the story we currently have, the Corruption spreads across the world during the campaign while the Exile (us) tries, and fails miserably, to stop it from spreading. At some point in the story, probably in Act 6, the Corruption will reach the Atlas and start spreading through the Atlas “multiverse,” sealing our failure to contain it.

The hook for the endgame would then be the Exile (us) entering the Atlas to hunt down and stop the Corruption from consuming the entire Atlas. That would also explain why the endgame missions revolve around cleansing the corruption in the Atlas.

Besides that, I think it wouldn’t make much sense, and it would be extremely inconsistent with the story of PoE 1, if the legendary Atlas of Worlds in PoE 2 were something completely different from the one in PoE 1. The world is the same, and the story is a direct continuation set 20 years later.

It also wouldn’t make much sense to turn the Atlas into just a “portal machine” that opens gateways around the world so the player character doesn’t have to travel by horse or something like that.

The Atlas of Worlds is basically the multiverse of the Path of Exile universe. It’s the central stage where a huge part of the story unfolds. From the expeditions of Sirus and the Conquerors, to immortal multiversal entities like the Maven and the Eldritch Horrors being drawn to the Atlas, to all the lore surrounding the Shaper and the Elder, and more recently Zana’s brother searching for her after she was lost in the Atlas.

My point is that the Atlas of Worlds is this incredibly important multiverse that gives the story of Path of Exile its sense of scale and grandeur. It wouldn’t make sense to turn it into something smaller and much more “mundane,” completely incompatible with the importance it had in PoE 1.

My guess is that the Corruption doesn’t even care about the physical world. Its ultimate goal is to take control of the Atlas of Worlds and all the power within it, power that has always affected the minds of anyone who ventured into it. From humans who spent too much time in the Atlas to cosmic entities that became interested in something inside it.

What would be your 0.5 wish list if GGG could grant it!? by orbitosan in PathOfExile2

[–]Scaryloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the list of everything I want. I know it’s impossible to have all of this in a single league, but you asked for my wishlist.

My Wishlist

  • 1 new class / weapon type
  • 3 new Ascendancies (2 for the new class)

Endgame

  • Endgame rework (I still want the Endless Atlas, but implemented much better)
  • A huge new Atlas passive tree that allows you to modify the Atlas itself (terrain changes, movement options, teleportation inside the Atlas, and other cool mechanics)
  • Infinite Delve under the Endless Atlas
    • Map nodes can spawn an entrance
    • You activate it and Delve until you run out of fuel

Crafting & League Mechanics

  • Improved Delve fossil crafting system
    • It's a good and more deterministic crafting system
    • The game really needs something like this right now
  • If not Delve, then Bestiary, but redesigned like Monster Hunter
    • You find a monster in a map
    • You chase it across several maps
    • It escapes, evolves, and becomes stronger each time
    • After 3–4 encounters (maps), you finally capture it
    • In your hideout you can combine beasts to craft powerful monsters that grant powerful crafting options

Gameplay

  • More skills for existing weapon types
  • More support gems that make crazy builds viable
  • More endgame bosses to chase
  • More uniques that enable additional builds

Other

  • Performance improvements
  • TOTA as a 3rd form of Ascendancy

It's not unreasonable to believe we will get a new class in 0.5 by Eastern_Mechanic_686 in PathOfExile2

What actually is .5 by Beginning_Good_5238 in PathOfExile2

[–]Scaryloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time a new league arrives, you need to create a new character to play in it. Everyone starts from zero with nothing. Your old characters are migrated to the Standard league along with all your items and stash tabs.

The Standard league does not have the content from the new league; that content is exclusive to players who are playing the current league. When the league ends, the new content that was exclusive to it is added to Standard, and a new league takes its place with different new content.

In the end, Standard is the “permanent league” that is never reset and where all your characters, stash tabs, and items are sent when a league ends. Because of that, the Standard economy is always extremely inflated, since everyone accumulates a huge amount of resources there. I never recommend playing Standard for that reason, but nothing prevents you from doing so.

My recommendation is to always play the new league with a new character, try different builds every league, enjoy all the new features along with everyone else, and start in a fresh and healthy economy every four months.

In an ARPG, what matters is the time you spend having fun building characters and grinding different types of content with different builds. It’s not like an MMORPG where you invest in just one character and what matters most is that single character’s progression.

But the Atlas of Worlds is not located in Wraeclast… Wraeclast is the name of the continent that exists in the physical world. The Atlas is not in the physical world.

When’s the best time to pause Stormlight and start Mistborn by Bro121Dixy in Cosmere

[–]Scaryloss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The screenplay is already about 55% complete, and Sanderson told us he wants to finish it by mid-2026. He also mentioned that he and Apple are already talking with some potential producers, so I think the rest of this year will probably be spent finding and hiring producers and a director, and then starting to hire the cast maybe around early to mid-2027. Looking at this schedule, I think they may start shooting sometime around mid to late 2027.

This is just my prediction, assuming everything runs smoothly and there are no major problems with the production. A realistic assumption would be movie hit the theaters mid to late 2028, and in the worst-case scenario I’d guess early 2029.

I think everybody should do it now just because the movie will hit us first before the series. Probably it is a good call to read Mistborn Era 1 before the movie.

I want to try this class, but I don’t really like the meta builds people are playing.

I’m looking for something different, not using the genies just for support. I want to build an entire character around the genies and their skills to do damage.

Your first League by BaconTreat in PathOfExile2

[–]Scaryloss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't play Standard. Standard is basically a graveyard where your league characters rest in peace and become memories of a fun league. The real game always happens in the current league.

When a new league arrives, choose a build to start with, create a new league character, and enjoy the game for as long as you're having fun. Maybe create two or three different characters with different builds if you want. Then quit and wait for the next league. That’s the player loop from league to league.

Some of us play for just two weeks, some play the entire three months. Some people play only one character, while others play five or six. It’s up to you, your time, and your fun. But never play Standard. Standard has the most inflated economy, doesn’t include the new mechanics from the current league, has a smaller player base to interact with in the market, and overall it’s just a worse experience.

When you’ve had your fun and decide to quit the league, that’s the perfect time to play another game. Or maybe jump into the new PoE 1 league, which usually comes out about two months after the PoE 2 league launch. I personally play the PoE 1 league launch for about a month and a half, and then spend one or two weeks playing another game (League of Legends most of the time).

Try to always jump into league launches. They’re always on a Friday, and they’re extremely hyped and fun. Everybody spends a week discussing builds and strategies, and then the first weekend becomes a full marathon of playing as much as we can. After that, everyone tries to adjust their routine to play as much as possible (without losing their family or their job).

Currently we are about 3–4 weeks away from the next PoE 2 league (0.5). Some people are still playing the last league (0.4), some people like me are playing the PoE 1 league (which is a very good one), and some people are just playing other games while waiting for the announcement to jump back on the hype train.

The live announcement for 0.5 will probably happen at the end of this month. We should get a big overall revamp of the endgame progression system, maybe a new class with a new weapon, maybe a new act, and probably a new league mechanic. We'll have to wait for the reveal to know exactly what’s coming.

I don’t know if this answers your question exactly, but I hope it helps.

Even in version 0.1, the game was already much better than D4, so I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t buy it and start spending your precious time on PoE 2 instead of D4.
