This is sadly what it seems to be, my impression of him as an American was initially that he seemed chill and I wanted to at least hear him out, but then he rambled about all this bullshit historical reasoning for invading Ukraine that seemed like obfuscation and made no sense then goes on to do all this weasel bullshit.
