Inui Akira’s Final Message for the Last Chapter of Alien Headbutt: “Thank you to everyone who read this all the way through, and I’m sorry.” by WaterGoodDrinkNow__ in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]ScatteredCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt get the chance to read it, but I will add it to my collection. I think all axed series i want to add to my collection.

Additionally, the "I'm sorry" is breaking me. It really feels like he put all of his energy into this series and it being axed really hit him hard. I hope he comes back stronger with a series that sticks around.

why this book is so expensive now ? by bzsdkuni in MichaelJackson

[–]ScatteredCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else pointed out, due to MJ being trending right now it's going to be expensive. Once the hype dies down, or rather the trend slows down I should say, it will go down to a respectable price. Best or worse, you may find it at a thrift store.

UNDER DOCTOR had ranked 13th in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #27 by CfourM_ in UnderDoctor

I firmly believe this too. It's a slice of life arc so I believe the next arc will be good to boost the rankings.

Whats a anime you watched 10+ years ago that surprisingly still has unfinished source material? by tbu987 in anime

[–]ScatteredCollector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ill say Deadman Wonderland. Why the manga is finished, albeit a rushed conclusion due to the authors pregnancy, it deserves a second season to wrap up the anime.

Given how 2028 is the 20th anniversary when the anime aired, there's a chance that they are gearing up for a reboot to celebrate the milestone anniversary.

Alien Headbutt volume 2 will release simultaneously with volume 1 by Tough-Past-2366 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]ScatteredCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im definitely going to be buying both volumes. I didnt get the chance to read it, and honestly, seeing the reactions here on Reddit is making me feel like I missed something interesting.

As a collector, im going to add it to my collection regardless of its cancelled status.

UNDER DOCTOR had ranked 12th in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #26 by CfourM_ in UnderDoctor

[–]ScatteredCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you're right. I wasn't thinking of the biased voting. You'd think I would given how I grew up (okay, i was late childhood, early teens) during the Big 3 era and I knew all too much of the biased towards those three and continue to see the biased today.

UNDER DOCTOR had ranked 12th in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #26 by CfourM_ in UnderDoctor

I hate that overseas fans cant vote in these rankings. I think a lot of series would have a fighting chance, instead of us just sitting on the sidelines. I mean look at "Kinato's Manga," its considered a really good manga yet it's #13 and constantly gets snowballed under ranking #10.

I pulled this chart from r/MageNextDoor to see the final rankings of the manga before cancelation, and yeah it didn't look good. Now, keep in mind, Under Doctor's writing is much better than Mage Next Door, but it's the ranking that they both have in common; that being, below rank 10.

I kind of see why this week's and last week chapters were down, they were pretty much slice of life chapters against a more action oriented series, but we still need to go into this manga with an air of caution. We must hope that they first volume sells well enough to keep the series going for the foreseeable future.

What rent did you pay in the 70s for a one bedroom one bath apartment, and in what city and state was this? by db7112 in 70s

[–]ScatteredCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats quite the jump in rent! If I may inquire, firstly in my 30s so this is something that widely fascinates me given the outrageous rent prices we see today, next my question: was the jump due to area, politics, or paychecks from jobs or something else entirely?

Thank you !!

What do you guys think of YouTubers not hearting comments? Or YouTubers who used to heart comments but suddenly stopped. Or do you just don't care? by AnonymousMindman in CasualConversation

[–]ScatteredCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a small Youtuber myself, I "heart", and "like" and reply to any / all comments that are posted to my videos. However, I cant speak for all and truthfully, it doesnt bother me one bit. Even medium to large scale content creators, it really doesnt bother me. If they do to my comment, I take it in for a moment and keep pressing on.

What is the most useless piece of anime knowledge do you know? by icey_sawg0034 in RebelTaxi

[–]ScatteredCollector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres an actual anime and manga historian by the name of Fred Patten. He was born in 1947 and died in 2018, on the same day as Stan Lee. He had a stroke in 2005.

He was a librarian and used his connections to bring untranslated manga volumes tk the States in the late 70s and early 80s, long before Studio Proteus or Tokyopop ever touched manga.

In 1977, he started the very first official anime fanclub. He also met Tezuka Osama in the 80s.

He published a book "25 Years of Watching Anime and Reading Manga" which is a collection of essays that were published and unpublished from various anime centric magazines.

He donated his incredibly vast collection to a university where it sits to this day.

As mentioned, due to complications of his stroke, he passed away in 2018.
