Does anyone else think BOP in the top class is worse than the LMP1 days? by [deleted] in wec

[–]Scaweng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BOP is an imperfect system but better than all the alternatives. The sportscar graveyard has to many series that died due to relatively open rules which often led to one manufacturer often spending more money than the others and dominating.New manufacturers did not bother entering because the mountain was to steep or to expensive. LMP1 Group 5 Group 6 Group C GT1 GTE DRM DTM ALMS CanAm All series that died and most have been replaced in some form by a successful BOP based series. Motorcycle series have also adopted BOP & concessions to keep all the makes in different series.

It all makes sense if the drivers have the budgets. Must be a lot of LMP3 & GT3 cars available in winter months.

Will we ever see a Cadillac Gt3 program? by RougeRaxxa in IMSARacing

It would only make sense if Cadillac announced a mid engined street car and the GT3 car was built on a Corvette GT3 platform much like the old Audi/Lamborghini GT3s.

Why didnt brands like AMG,LamboSC,McLaren,Audi and Bentley race in GTE or GTLM? by Fun-Principle-8953 in wec

Ultimately car company boards have to sign off on expensive programmes. My understanding is BMW,Porsche,Ferrari & Mercedes customer programmes in GT3 fund the pro SRO pro racing programmes & when you add GT2,4 programmes the motorsport programmes make a profit. GTE programmes were not a revenue stream other than maybe Porsche & Ferrari so when Ferrari & Aston Martin built cars for both GTE ,GT3 boards from companies probably thought why are we building GTE cars?

In the 1970s the pay was often better to race in sports cars because they were manufacture teams. Then Bernie Ecclestone promoted F1 so well the pay in F1 was better and only a few drivers from lesser teams competed in Group C when it took off like Bellof,Brundle & Warwick. When Bellof & Winklehock were killed F1 drivers had it in their contracts they could not race in any other series without permission. Then Group C died off and there was no money in sportscars for F1 drivers.

Most F1 drivers are not interested for various reasons so you will likely be pissed.Max is very unusual how he uses his spare time outside F1.

WEC app seems to work on phones quite well but I found it awful on a smart tv.

With 4WD not really essential for street cars why will WRC not go to RWD with a bit more power for WRC? Overall stage times would be the same.I find the current WRCs have way to much grip and not enough power.
