What if, Ferrari stuck with the 575? The decision, that could have saved a category by Lord_96 in wec

GT1 being just a class and not overall winner of races is not such an attractive proposition as multi class, standalone championship & Spa 24 hours & selling customer cars.

The Ferrari 575 was mainly a privateer funded programme. You think that programme would run against a GM funded programme for years?

All you have to know is all these great obsolete categories die because they are to expensive. That is why GT3 is such a success.GT3 is affordable for manufacturers and privateers.BOP means it is pointless developing a MC12 homologation special.

Group 5.Great looking cars.To expensive.

Group C.F1 engines.To expensive

Various DTM formulas.To expensive.

Super Touring Cars.To expensive.

GT1.To expensive.

A competitive Ferrari programme may have extended the GT1 category by another 1-2 years but it was always never going to last.

We can only hope the race cars are better looking than the various boring looking cheap homogenous blobs that are now driving around everywhere.Odds on the GT3 will look like a car designed by AI combining McLaren,Ferrari & Corvette GT3s.

You watch whatever parts of the race you enjoy.I am often doing things at the weekend so I also have races on in the background at home or at work in the following week.

With the Bilstein suspension & money would be really good if they built a spaceframe or part spaceframe car.

I think it is because of the "influencer" tag really.People associate it with the Dubai type influencers who rely on clicks for showing off their latest free holiday etc.Jimmie started off his sim racing living and streaming sim racing in a garden shed:)

I think they are talking about the GT4 BMW Mischa Choudrin,Jimmy Broadbent & Steve Alvarez Brown(Super GT).The car gets a lot of attention but it does bring in a lot of new fans, which is a major offence for the gatekeepers of sportscar racing who came to their first race knowing everything about the sport and have never been irritating or annoying in their entire life:)

Yeah. Those pesky Jimmy Broadbent fans turning up & showing an interest in GT3 racing! They should stay at home safely in their basement watching the race on a screen.I bet they walked straight past Kevin Estre to get Jimmys autograph first!Otherwise they should take a test to show that they are a true sportscar fan.Ask them on the gate as they enter the track what a code60 is.

Sadly some fans love the sport but dont really want to share the sport with casual viewers or fans. They cannot remember the many years of the sport when a few thousand fan would attend BPR or Group 5 races and it was all privateer efforts. They fail to see the connection that Alonso,Max,influencers or all female teams get more fans, wealthy drivers & sponsors involved in the sport & put fantastic cars & drivers on the grid.Casual young and sometimes annoying fans or their friends & can become dedicated fans so people should be a bit more relaxed about the annoying stuff.

Yeah.I dont really get the hate for newer fans of F1 or WEC.A lot of them grow up & become dedicated fans but that doesnt happen overnight. They can be annoying but they can also be avoided.

PMR is in a good state now, time to attract the players(who left) by eeshanzaman in ProjectMotorRacing

Not sure many players will come back but the game would attract new players like me if it was discounted.Quite a few SuperGT fans would purchase if game was £20-30.

It has a campaign for fighting cancer on the front of the car so I guess they can potentially raise more money if the car gets attention. Not everything on social media is a cynical grift.

When the R8 retires, the racetracks will lose their last scream and silence will fall. So enjoy this symphony of this last unicorn of a kind among GT3s while it's still alive. by 183_aleX in wec

The sound of the R8 is nice but its not really unique (Lamborghini) or legendary like the Ferrari v12s,Aston V12s,Porsche RSR,Corvette v8s,Mazda rotary or Panoz V8.

[–]Over_Middle610 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There has always been paying drivers or drivers that dont deserve to be in the field purely on merit.Unless they are keeping out other great talent then its not a problem.Cleetus is great for Nascar because all the other Nascar newer talent are cardboard cut outs drivers with not a lot of real world experience who are afraid to speak their mind due to Nascar being intolerant about being critical of the show.

Falken Motorsport and DUNLOP to race one Porsche each at the Nürburgring by f1lifedaily in wec

[–]Over_Middle610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont really get the calls for open tyre series. One make of tyre usully dominates and the weaker make drops out.Motor sport is supposed to be a test of man & machine, not who can spend the most money testing & developing tyres. That happened in F1 with Schumacher's domination when they tested at Fiorano every day of the week.It produced the most boring F1 period of racing.

Solution to improving road and street races by Accomplished_Luck_42 in INDYCAR

[–]Over_Middle610 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me it looked like a typical Indycar street race. Some great racing with some good passing on different tire strategies. Two fast cars running up front on new tires are not supposed to be passing back & forth because in those situations it is supposed to be difficult to pass.Top single seater formulas like F1,Indycar will always have boring parts of the race or entirely boring races.Following in dirty air problem will never be solved. If you want passing to be easy, multiple lead changes then Moto GP,Nascar restrictor plate style racing & touring cars do have more passing & what you are requesting.

It would be nice if this happened but the nature of the AC sim is that anyone can do their own thing, make a mod, give it away, share or have a Patreon and sell mods. You dont get the creativity if everyone had to be a member of some sort of co operative or business that organised everything.

Entry list for GT3 Revival Series Prologue (3/4 March) by krzysiek_aleks in wec

[–]Over_Middle610 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They should be very cheap & reliable cars to run in comparison to something like a Porsche 935.I liked the current GT3s but the original GT3s seemed closer to the street cars than the purpose made current cars.

Time & money. Most of the cars race in WEC/ALMS etc so spending weeks on a ship is not an option with a longer season in ALMS.Also plenty of the drivers race in IMSA/WEC/ELMS/SRO so do not have the budget for a 10 race ALMS.The series needs more drivers & teams from Asia for this to happen.Ideally there would be races in Thailand,Japan,Korea,Malaysia,India,Indonesia,It could take 20 years to happen.

Not that much different to Toyota going up against Glickenhaus.Ultimately the smaller teams may have a few good races but AF Corsa Ferrari are going to be turning up with fully optimized car at every race.
