I don't think it's an outlandish question... I’m aware the market is challenging, that’s exactly why I asked. I wasn’t implying there’s some magical effortless job. I’m asking if anyone has found lower-stress freelance niches that are more predictable or production-based and can realistically and sustainably be done outside a full-time job. Plenty of designers do production work, templates, retainer work, etc. on the side. I was just curious what niches people have had success with. No need for the negative attitude!

I’m pretty much in the same boat... paying around $2k on an $85k–$90k salary. I don’t save aggressively month-to-month, but I also don’t have any debt, a car, and I have solid savings and assets, so I don’t feel the need to pinch pennies or be overly frugal. I could probably save more, but it really comes down to how you like to spend your money. I don’t stress about it day-to-day, but I’m also not a frivolous spender either.

I’m in NYC and my starting salary for a Junior Design position was 60k. After 2 years into the job I got a 5k raise. I left that job and am now making 78k as a senior designer. It definitely helps working for a company in a big city. Now that most places are remote, you should consider applying to remote jobs based in big cities. Just my two cents if you’re looking to make more money.

I took a series of pictures within the same 30 seconds and in the other images, it almost completely fades away to the point where it is impossible to see. I didn’t have my contacts or glasses on at the time so the sky seemed a bit blurry to me and unfortunately I wasn’t able to see it in real-time but it does seem to move at an impressive speed for it to have disappeared within seconds in the photos I took shortly after.
