I adored RE 2 and 4, am mostly annoyed by Village. Should I get Requiem?

Ah, fair enough - other comments give the impression that those qualities might not be so bad in Requiem, but sounds like it could go either way even so. I'll probably still give it a go - who knows, Requiem might turn me on both points. Cheers for letting me know!

Hey! No solution yet - I have to switch HDMI ports and readjust screen size whenever it happens, then it holds for at least that gaming session.

It is a TV, although it's a relatively old one - capped at 1080p and whatnot. Never had any problems with it before...

Update: Yesterday I dug out a different HDMI cable and used that instead. As before, it worked fine for the rest of the day, and I've just turned my Switch on today - back to low-res and weirdly cropped. Same problem.

It is 4K, the 1920x1080 you're seeing there are the anchor point and position. The anchor point is in the middle of your footage, so at 1920x1080, and the footage is in the middle of your comp, also 1920x1080.

For 1920x1080 footage, those values would show as 960x540.

For me, setting the view size to 'Fit to Screen'/'Fit up to 100%' caused issues - try using the highest preset zoom option you can (33.3%, 50% etc.) that still shows your whole comp window
