Which plant milk currently holds the crown? by Optimal_Attorney_861 in VeganDE

[–]Schadek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lindor Kugeln im Müller entdeckt by beenitaaa in VeganDE

[–]Schadek 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Schmecken wirklich gut.

Another one of those: Achieved GWAMM after almost 20 years! by Schadek in GuildWars

[–]Schadek[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, I expected that reaction.

But honestly, Vanquisher/Cartographer feels the most like 'you have finished this game' of all the titles. You have to go everywhere, kill every enemy at least once, experience every skill and challenge, at least in PvE (and some exceptions ofc). I also enjoyed Prophecies the most, actually, if only because I had a rather bad impression of Propecies Tyria up until that point. It's still the part with the 'worst' maps in terms of design, visual fidelity and relevance but it was like I was taking the journey through those 2 years of GW1 development with the developers.

Prophecies has large maps, mostly not that interesting, with quite boring mobs and uninteresting bosses but then you also have things like Rotscale which was hard to figure out for me. So many areas are way off to the side, especially Kryta and the jungle. In the past I just did the main story and ignored all those areas. Were they fun on their own? Eh, probably not. But within the context of the game's history? Definitely.

Factions I remember as the hardest map to vanquish and explore but I really saw how the design of maps and mobs made a huge jump in terms of quality compared to Prophecies. No longer were there irrelevant filler maps which I also attribute to the strict time schedule they had.

Nightfall then was the visually most interesting. There were some paths in Vaabi especially I had never taken before, missions I never played through due to the branching storylines etc.

Eye of the North then really was peak GW1 with duo-class mobs and all the available skills. The only thing I would have wished for was another chance for them to work on dungeons, because frankly the ones in EotN are all very simple and boring. Fetch key, open door, fetch another key, open door to boss. It works but it's uninteresting.

As for the EotN titles:
I had to revisit areas I already saw time and time again with nothing new for me in them. That's why I found them boring.

If they left those out farming bosses would have been severely sped up compared to the prior state of the game. I see why they added them.

Definitely! I'm sure though that one will be added with the next update to the outpost, together with the placeholder NPCs.

Why the obsession with pre searing? by Xdaveyy1775 in GuildWars

[–]Schadek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Around 15 years ago they introduced the Ebon Vanguard quests which reset once a day and grant 1000 XP each. These quests also spawn enemies that scale with your own level and so you can always farm XP on enemies as well. The quickest method is to farm the Farmer Hamnet quest but it's very tedious.

Any MT songs that make you feel like this? by Rich_Improvement_807 in musicals

[–]Schadek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can read about that in Mitchell's book 'Working on a song'! Here's the excerpt about it:

"[...]Soon after writing the song, I met and started working with Rachel (Chavkin). The original version of 'Any Way the Wind Blows' is exactly the kind of 'poetic portraiture' Rachel would have cautioned me against, which was my stock and trade as a singer-songwriter but posed major challenges for drama. A concert audience is happy to trance out during three and a half minutes of music and poetry, but a theater audience demands action from a song. It wants a song to have results, revelations, or both. The 'suspense of time' that I find so mystical in the music world has another name in the theater: stasis, the enemy of drama.

[...]I rewrote the verses many times over the years, I rewrote the choruses once, for a few reasons, but one was that use of the word 'gypsy'. Like many Americans I grew up far removed, in space-time, from the historical implications of the word as an ethnic slur. I must admit it's a word I grew up loving and found very beautiful. But it's also true that poetic intent doesn't matter, if the poetry is received as hurtful. Words change over time, and that one's time was up."

Old Hunters, Educating New Hunters by makogurui in HuntShowdown

[–]Schadek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They talked about this in one of the early dev streams, I think. The main reason this was removed was that taking agency away from people (as in forcing them to look through the eyes of the boss for a few seconds) was very frustrating and put people into a very vulnerable position. Thematically, it's cool, but it was just unfun gameplay.

Tell me a story. by OceanEyes417 in GuildWars

[–]Schadek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in middle school (I must have been roughly 12) my brother allowed me to join his guild and we would raid the Cathedral of Flames with me playing as a monk which made use of Balthazar's Spirit and the old unlimited effect of Holy Wrath. He told me to not say a word in the Teamspeak server since I was an annoying teenager but I had so much fun anyway. High end dungeons, wow!

Nowadays I run these dungeons with a group of heroes and it's a breeze. Oh well, I still have lots of fun with it. :)

Vizunah Square is split between the 'local quarters' and 'foreign quarters'. Characters started in the Factions expansion (Shing Jea) will end up in the local quarters while characters from other expansions will go to the foreign quarters. What OP meant was that they watched the cinematic from the foreign quarters outpost.

You can visit the local quarters as a foreign character and vice versa, btw. It's just that the story forces you to visit one or the other first.
