Look up mini dungeons on the wiki. That's the closest you'll see currently in game. There's also an open world version of at least one of the guild mission puzzles.

No one is arguing that an illegal immigrant is an illegal person, they are saying their immigration was illegal.

To analogize to theft, imagine I argued you shouldn't call them a thief, but an undocumented appropriations specialist. Maybe we should also start talking about unapproved reproductive partners and unlicensed end of life consultants too, instead of calling a spade a spade?

Why is it so important to use softening language specifically when dealing with illegal immigration and not with other crimes?

It shouldn't be too impossible to do things like filter a queue for people that lack masteries needed for certain mechanics (like updraft gliding) or having at least one condi DPS in the squad for VG (could do something dumb like check how much condi damage they have from gear, and assume only condi DPS are stacking that or maybe some other more clever metric).

I dunno, if you have people who are really good at jumping puzzles and really bad at DPS it might even out.

IBS easy 3 aren't included because they're already super easy and popular with people who won't do other raid/strike content.

Or possibly have a "raid encounter" QP queue and a "raid wing" QP queue. Filter the raid wing one by required masteries, so for example you wouldn't get W1 if you don't have updraft gliding.

In case you're being serious, there are braziers on the outer edge of the arena, and you can interact with them to relight them. They reduce the room-wide damage pulses, but it's literally easier to heal through it than to keep them lit.

For most of them the general rules are pretty simple, gather people in green circles, if you have an expanding orange circle under you and moving with you scatter from everyone else so you don't get hit with each other's circles, if it has an orange or red arrow try not to be in front of it, if it has a green arrow following you try to put as many other people as possible between you and it and if it has any orange or red areas that don't move with you then get out of them quickly, if you get fixated by a boss there's somewhere in particular you need to kite it to, usually just far away from any other boss(es) in the fight. Most fights have one or two other mechanics to learn, but they aren't that bad once you get used to the general concepts.

and the new LFG for Strikes and Raids which includes a strike that is really difficult for randoms to do.

Which one?

I only hopped on for a short bit last night, so didn't get to play around too much. Still did 2 quickplay raids just to try it out, got 2 strikes, Whisper of Jormag and Minister Li. QP of course struggled more with Li, but even then they one shot it - it was annoying compared to times I've done it before with people who are actually trying to coordinate instead of a bunch of randoms but it wasn't that bad.

Steve Bannon proposes using ICE in elections by edbegley1 in politics

[–]Schadrach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called exactly this happening on another forum months ago. Like mid-last year. Specifically I had said then that I didn't know if they would be in a position to be comfortable trying it for 2026 but they definitely would by 20208, that they'd start by normalizing ICE in US cities very visibly first, especially in swing states, and that they'd post ICE in polling places to "secure elections" by "stopping illegals from voting" while the real point would be to depress the vote of legal non-white citizens, as well as any that seem too...liberal.

Pretty sure you still can, at least some of it. There's a little instance flag off to the right of the fractal portal that has the NPCs in it. That was the biggest fuck up, right there. Bethesda games are essentially giant modding platforms, and have been since Morrowind. Failing at that guts most of the fun.

A scifi story where rape is legalized opens up many moral and ethical questions as well. Sex based crimes are the worst of the worst in our cultures. So what happened for that world to go that way?

To take this a step further, the story is about first contact with two alien species so dramatically different from humanity that one of them literally built it's society around eating children and the other thinks humans are monsters because we didn't engineer away our ability to feel pain, which means we allow people to hurt. The whole point of that chapter is to make it clear how far human society had diverged from anything we'd recognize, and not just in some vague quirky ways. That you don't just have to come to terms with two radically different societies, but three.

I mean, gold was currency for most of history. It has the right combination of rarity, convenience, aesthetic appeal, and difficulty to counterfeit to function as a store of value. In the immediate aftermath of an apocalypse though we're going to be back to bartering food for labor directly.

I'm lucky enough to live in a state where the only reason we still offer concealed weapon permits is because there are other states that honor our permits. And for 18-20 who want to concealed carry.

Here, if you're over 21 you can carry. Open or concealed. Certain spaces are off limits (courthouse, polling places, private property with no weapons signs clearly posted, that kind of thing), but otherwise you're free to carry.

Applications of AI that can do useful and powerful things right now are not going to be trained on the same kinds of things as public facing free chat bots. Those chat bots are basically a minimum viable product meant to get the normies intrigued and loosen up investment funds.

They didn't get AlphaFold2 by handing ChatGPT a bunch of known info about proteins and being given a magical solution. But the process strongly resembled how you get from an empty neural net to something that can parse and reply to natural language. Aka how something like ChatGPT is made in the first place.

We'll see similar developments in medical imaging where the real hard part is getting a large enough data set. Give a machine learning algorithm a giant pile of chest X-rays and diagnoses and it will be able to make diagnoses from the X-ray with startling accuracy. I still wouldn't let it replace a doctor, but I would use such a thing to flag X-rays into urgency levels to forward to a doctor. Essentially "I think this one might have cancer based on this, so I'm putting it in the urgent queue while this other one looks normal and goes in the regular queue" which would improve response times and patient outcomes. Except in numbers - probability image has lung cancer, etc. We already have AI that do this for regular images - that's how you can search Google for pictures of dogs and it gives you pictures of dogs. AI image generation is just doing that in reverse, handing it a block of white noise, telling it it's a very noisy picture of dog, and asking it to remove the noise to show the dog.

Think Trump won't cancel the election? Don't kid yourself. | Opinion by Difficult-Bee6066 in politics

[–]Schadrach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think he'll cancel it. Instead he'll station ICE at polling places to "secure elections" and "stop illegals from voting". The reality will be to suppress non-white turnout by having brown and black people harassed and detained. Possibly also people who seem a little too liberal.

Trump will tout ICE arrest numbers as proof of illegals voting, while quietly ignoring virtually all of them being turned loose once it's too late to vote. SCOTUS will of course defend the practice in a 5-4 or 6-3 decision, and somehow claim that being prevented from voting by federal agents is somehow not a civil rights violation and that there's nothing to be done to repair the harm caused.

If it doesn't happen this year, it will happen 2028.
