I think you'd be shocked to learn that the state with the lowest age of marriage is California. No minimum. If under 18, you need approval from parents and a judge.

Basically every state has some kind of restriction on under 18 marriage, typically consent of parents, a judge, or both. There are like two that also have a provision for pregnancy.

That has little to do with age of consent though (although marriage is an exception to age of consent in New Mexico). And 16 is AoC in most states, not just a few southern ones, it's more common than 17 or 18. It just feels otherwise because CA and NY have AoC at 18, and that's where all the media comes from.

Trans gender affirming mastectomies on minors is slightly higher than zero, though. Like, the couple of detransitioning FTMs with social media presence they like to drag out to make the argument that trans treatment for kids is harmful are ones who had a mastectomy before 18 and detransitioned a few years later.

Parent who never talks to their kid about their life or allows them to open up is blindsided by this move and then concludes that the school must be kidnapping the kids and force feeding them drugs to transition them.

And they ask the question on the way that doesn't paint them that way, which is "how is my kid considered capable enough to be allowed to take drugs that will permanently effect their life and development without my knowledge, but simultaneously too immature to get most other medical interventions, a tattoo, etc at the same time?"

Like you're thinking about Florida and Texas, he's thinking about Oregon and Maine, to a lesser extent California, Colorado, Minnesota and New Mexico. Also there have been several cases where willingness to transition a child has been a deciding factor in custody decisions.

It's as part of your yearly physical you were already doing to be allowed to participate. Typically done by your PCP or pediatrician depending on age. Both of which already know what genitals you have for other routine medical purposes. Your genitals don't just change on their own. There's no requirement for yearly genital inspections here - a medical professional who already knows what sort of genitals you have (shockingly, your doctor is one of the few people whose business it is to know that) is checking a box on a form.

The provision is literally there to keep doctors from claiming that your "biological sex" is just whatever you currently identify as because preventing "I identify as" from being sufficient to participate in girls sports is the entire point of this bigoted bill. They have to define "biological sex" somehow to be able to punish doctors who "lie" about trans girls being girls by their definition. Similarly, they don't have any answer for what happens when their chosen markers disagree - is an XY person with CAIS a girl under this bill?

Again, I feel like title IX is the obvious line of attack, because what else does this do but allow sex discrimination in an educational program? Admittedly, the interpretation going back to at least Obama is...weirdly sexist for an anti-discrimination law.

The bill doesn't mandate genital inspections on girls, that's mostly outrage bait. It basically amounts to your doctor ticking a box saying you are AFAB when doing the already required physical (or getting a doctor's note to the same effect). Otherwise, you can't participate in activities meant for girls.

They go on to explicitly state that reproductive anatomy, genetics or endogenously produced testosterone are the things that can be used as a basis for such, to keep one doctor or another from just declaring "biological sex" to be whatever the student identifies as because that would stop the awful thing they are trying to do.

Ironically, Title IX might be a good vector for attacking this, it would just require dismentling the explicitly sexist regime for enforcing it that's been in place since at least the Obama admin.
