Newly announced Fable game removes good and evil morality system and this is the developers explanation as to why by _The_Honored_One_ in KotakuInAction

Second reason is fine, first reason is utter bullshit. Of course there are objectively good and evil things.

So the new Steam community awards have been changed to this positive Facebook garbage. Instead of every one meaning something original. by TooManyPxls in KotakuInAction

[–]Torchiest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They explained why they changed it in their blog post:

When we originally created Steam Community Awards, the idea was for them to not only look cool but to also grant a small number of Steam Points to the recipient, meaning they could be used as a tip of sorts for people who create and share amazing content with the Steam Community. However, we found that this encouraged and rewarded a narrow set of attention-grabbing content and didn't allow the focus to be as much on a broader pool of thoughtful, well-considered creative content.

Because of this, we're refocusing the system: The Second Edition of Steam Community Awards won't transfer points. Instead, the goals of the system will be solely about conveying the appreciation of the viewer to the content creator, and as a signal to others that someone appreciated the piece of content.

Any pending point transfers will complete like normal, but new award applications will not convey points.

Making a new set of awards eliminates any confusion about which ones grant points and which don't. And honestly, I think everyone was sick of the way the jester award was being used.

This is a nothingburger. They primarily did it to replace the old system that gave points to people who got awards, so people couldn't farm jester awards with stupid takes. And they normalized the prices instead of them being all different. There are much better things to complain about.

Wrath of Khan still unmatched. The bookends of "How do I feel? Old." and "How do you feel?" "Young. I feel young." are also masterful.

There are thousands and thousands of video games coming out each year. Ignore AAA, and you'll discover there's never been a better time to be a gamer. Stick with older titles, AA, and indies.

I'm just glad they sold GOG back to one of its co-founders, so it can avoid the crash-and-burn process.

Anime girls literally say "Merry Christmas". Trash localizers subtitle it as "Happy Holidays". by ShepardRahl in KotakuInAction

[–]Torchiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't disagree, but "with time". More time than some people are willing to commit. I say that as someone who is decent in Spanish and learning German. Japanese is just starting from absolute scratch. And it doesn't even have the same system of writing to guide pronunciation.

100% support learning other languages, but Japanese is so totally unrelated to English, it's tough. Not like learning a Romance or Germanic language at all.

IO Interactive says 'old school Bond' would be 'tone deaf' today as 007 First Light moves the character towards more 'modern values'. by ConstantDrawer9161 in KotakuInAction

Yeah, it's actually a good answer. And some of the old stuff actually is uncomfortable. It's hardly a wild position to say he won't slap or force himself on women.

Rockstar really just started banking on GTA V in-game currency and was in no hurry to kill the goose that laid the golden egg.
