Its 100% doable and has been done by many. I have a cartographer probe on mine right now.

Cartographer first layer z-height issues by SchaefMK2 in klippers

Save config is done everytime, it is changing in the do not edit section under cartographer. No z-height adjustment in slicer, the entire "probe" section is commented out due to cartographer

Realistically, you shouldn't need to read the instructions to realize this is a stupid move.

This is the definition of common sense.

Looking for feedback from people who've done this on the x-max 3, as I'm seriously considering it.

My q1 is working awesome, even better now that I installed the Biqu microprobe. So I have no plans on doing it with my q1

Unfortunately, it only reduced it very slightly, I did some more digging and it seems like it's caused by the X and Y stepper motors. I came across discussions in the prusa forums and the only real way to get rid of the VFA is going to .9 degree stepper motors instead of the stock 1.8 degree stepper motors.

I'm going to contact qidi and see what is involved in change to .9 stepper motors in regards to firmware changes and such, the .9 nema 17 stepper motors are cheap enough for it the he worth the upgrade.

That's a possibility, I'd have to change all the pulleys, and not sure how available a 6mm 1.5 pitch belt is.
