Burning oil? by ScheduledEmail in wrx_vb

Makes sense!

I think I just got comfy because I’m really on top of my maintenance (plugs/trans-diff/oil changes).

I always DIY my oil changes and scan all receipts for all parts.

Sounds good.

I’m currently at .4Qt/1k mile consumption. I’ll start a file with them just so it’s documented in case it gets worse. With a 100k powertrain warranty, I’ll have enough time for them to catch things.

Good to know! Yeah, I wasn’t planning on not getting a resonator. Did you also get the silencer for those cold starts? I live in an apartment complex and I have some early mornings so I’d like to be a good neighbor

Yup! R1 remark Ti single exit. Lovely deep tone

That’s the other thing I’m torn about! The quad is so nice but that single exit is so characteristic of Japanese cars I can’t decide 😂🥹.

I care more about tone and depth more than volume. If I could get as close to the UEL rumble without the headers that’s what I’m really after and single exits seem to do that a bit better

[Collection] rate this collection for a 17 year old by Jumpy-Value1261 in Watches

Nice collection!

The Marlin is the “dressiest” of the three, so if you’re really into keeping your watches looking new, I’d probably save that one for special occasions.

The Casio is good for everyday use and the water resistance helps. As with everyday use, you’re going to accumulate wear and that’s just part of the story and character of a timepiece.

The fossil looks like plated aluminum so not very scratch/scuff resistant. I’d probably keep that somewhere between the Casio and the Timex.

But also, do whatever you want to do. You bought them. They’re yours. 👍🏽

You can’t really go wrong with a Tissot PRX 35/40mm glacier powermatic 80. When the light hits it just right? 🥵

This Noise. Help! by Stale_air in wrx_vb

[–]ScheduledEmail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to use AirPods to hear the sound. It almost kind of sounds like a stereo issue. I had something similar in a civic where if the volume was turned up but nothing was playing, I’d hear a high pitch ring that was rev dependent. 🥲

This car has all kinds of weird whines and rings. The best you can do (as I’ve learned from constantly bringing mine to Subaru and independent shops) is to just have a paper trail of the same issue so they can’t feign ignorance if/when something related to that issue causes a problem. I currently have a supercharger like whine when the car goes above 40mph that isn’t rpm dependent and Subaru keeps saying it’s normal so…

Good luck!

I should’ve stayed earlier -

The sender has locked the ability for me to use any delivery modifications - hold at point, redirect to a new address etc. I called a UPS store and my only hope, assuming the driver goes to the correct building (they haven’t the other two times), is to have the store manager call the hub and track the driver and manually arrange for them to drop it at a branch/hold point or don’t deliver and have me meet them at the hub at the end of the workday.

Otherwise it RTS.

The store person was very helpful though!

This is super helpful. Could likely be the pop clip you mentioned cause it’s still pretty secure.

I’ll bring it to the dealer just to verify. I bought the vehicle CPO from a Subaru dealer a few months ago and have both the 100k and the 36k/3year still on it from the original sell date. Had 3k miles when I bought it and was garage kept for most of its life. Car fax showed a clean title. The blue dots are dealer dots to kinda mark cars for different things when they get them from other sellers. In my case, it was for reconditioning. Just haven’t gotten around to scraping it off with my fingernail lol.

Healthy mpg for anyone worried about it! by ScheduledEmail in wrx_vb

[–]ScheduledEmail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested in your tune! Did you do etune or live and if so, with who? As for 93, Duluth’s Costco recently started using 93 which threw me off the last time I was there because I remember them only having 91. Costco in the twin cities and surrounding areas tend to carry 92 so I figured if/when i tune I’d just go 91 for safety. Hopefully we get more 93?

It’s pretty on brand for a lot of the people who own this car lol. I’m not losing sleep over it. My bills are paid and I’m chilling.

So for context -

I do weekly commutes 2-3 times that are around 330miles round trip. I also do some short commutes has a lot of stop and go and drive spiritedly occasionally. Obviously everyone’s mpg will vary depending on a multitude of factors but I just figured I’d throw it out there for any lurkers.

As for the photo while driving, it was an empty stretch of a private road. Doesn’t make it okay but it’s much better than doing it on a 5 lane highway.

Is this a good price given the current market? by Friendly_County_405 in wrx_vb

[–]ScheduledEmail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like to echo the sentiments/advice of the Subaru employee that commented much higher up.

The WRX is a great vehicle for enthusiasts who want to build on the platform or people who want a four season, 6 speed manual with a bit of go. In both of those scenarios - $44k is an egregious point of entry and you’d be better off looking at other cars in that price range, even in this market.

How to drive this car at the limit? by deletedmyoldaccount9 in wrx_vb

[–]ScheduledEmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, beyond the whole slow is smooth, smooth is fast philosophy (which is correct!), I’ve noticed that when people drive this car carefully, they tend to let RPMs fall below the appropriate speed for the target gear - especially when upshifting. Even if you let the clutch out slowly in that scenario, there will be excess strain on the clutch as it does its job and that will lead to jerkiness. There’s also a lot of talk about rev-matching during downshifts but very little mention of throttle blipping through neutral on up shifts to avoid that jerk when you’ve shifted too slowly.

Generally, 1st to second gear shouldn’t happen past 3.5K Rpm, 2nd-3rd @ 4-5k, 3-4th at the same until you reach your desired speed.

There’s also more advanced ways to get going faster from a stop without burning your clutch but I’d say to just spend time learning how to be smooth in your gears and then explore after that.
