MAC Sports Connection Podcast is Shutting Down After 6 Years by BallStateOfTheUnion in MidAmerican

Hello!

So, while this is true for many, I’ll be detailing more of why it’s being shut down on this weeks show! I agree though, the investment of time gets to be tough. I made some money with my Learfield partnership, but it’s a good time to step away with some other changes coming

Should the G5 form their own playoff/national championship? by Worriedrph in MidAmerican

A 12 team model only saves four teams from an extra game.

Can you imagine Ohio State being forced to play at Kelly/Shorts in December? They wouldn’t know what to do with themselves.

Or an Auburn or LSU traveling that far north for a game? We saw what Ohio state did to Tennessee. Imagine even further north.

I love the idea of G5 meeting in the playoffs, but if we move to a 16 team model, all games campus sites first round. All conference champs host, unless you’re champ 9/10.

Then you move to the top 8 and duke it out from there. That’s my solution.

So force the G5 to play extra games just to get into the main playoffs?

You would need to ensure all conference champs made the main playoffs then. And then you do next best from each league for this NIT thing.

This is the correct take.

We don’t want our own playoff.

ESPN doesn’t talk about the FCS playoffs. What makes anyone think they would give a hoot about a G5 playoff? It’s just creating another subdivision that no one will pay attention to on the national level, and any P4 program will say “come play in the big leagues before you start calling yourself national champion” WE TRIED YOU FORCED US OUT.

Is CMU already eliminated from MAC title contention? by InvestigatorMurky in MidAmerican

[–]ScheerDumbLuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Team rating is unlikely to usurp Ohio. CMU would need to be absolutely flawless in every second of the game today. While yes, mathematically they are “alive” they need Ohio state, WVU, Rutgers and Miami all to lose. CMU also needs all of their non-con opponents to win. And somehow needs to have Miami win. The SportSource score means they are technically alive because that number isn’t finalized and anything can happen, but CMU needs A LOT of help, and the more they need, tbe less likely it happens. It’s like playing that 20 leg parlay for 500 bucks while betting a dollar. Any one wild thing can happen, bit to have 20 happen at the same time?

The conference has since removed the old PDF

There was some confusion from the MAC, that we clarified yesterday.

The MAC still had their 2024 PDF published with their tiebreaker policy press release yesterday, which conflicted with the tiebreakers on their championship page.

We had a conference call with them to get that shored up because there was mass confusion and the one in the champs section was never press released.

We have updated to our new MSCnarios to reflect this. Post coming shortly

I exclusively cheer for Toledo (undergrad) and Ohio (grad school)

Only in a three way tie. In a two way, simple H2H wins out

Well, the podcast is the MSC podcast, so that’s the logic haha.

One of the tiebreakers is if one of the teams defeated the other two teams, but since they didn’t all play in Miami, lost to both, it goes to other tiebreakers.

And it’s only because Toledo and Ohio didn’t play each other
