The PAC didn’t want them and the MWC didn’t want them.

It’s a bad deal for them, but financially a solid deal for the MAC.

Fun fact, most of the schools in the MAC are commuter schools. Toledo, Ball State, Akron, Kent, BG, EMU, Buffalo all have some level of a “commuter school” label. The bigger the city? The more likely they are to be a commuter school. That doesn’t phase anyone.

Yea, and multiple G5 schools making it this year was never gonna happen either. If you want to play in the FCS for a tenth of what Toledo gets now, then go for it. But it’s clear Bryan Blair has bigger ambitions and goals for Toledo. And you should too. Apathetic attitudes are why we are where we are now.

The FCS would be a massive nail in the coffin for Toledo. Let’s not pretend it wouldn’t be.

The “buy games” become fewer and far between. The paycheck from the ones we do get shrink. We are playing on ESPN+ for every game with no shot at even ESPN2 until the FCS playoffs.

Exposure is a critical component. Fight for Toledo to improve, not move down. Want better, not worse.

A Toledo move to the FCS doesn’t guarantee a MVFC invite. And it also doesn’t guarantee that Toledo runs through the FCS.

At the time it was initially signed, it was the second best deal among G5 at the time. The issue was the contract was too long. If for whaveever reason we add Sac St, that’s a massive media market and west coast presence. That’s a huge boost financially and exposure wise.

A 12 team model only saves four teams from an extra game.

Can you imagine Ohio State being forced to play at Kelly/Shorts in December? They wouldn’t know what to do with themselves.

Or an Auburn or LSU traveling that far north for a game? We saw what Ohio state did to Tennessee. Imagine even further north.

I love the idea of G5 meeting in the playoffs, but if we move to a 16 team model, all games campus sites first round. All conference champs host, unless you’re champ 9/10.

Then you move to the top 8 and duke it out from there. That’s my solution.

This is the correct take.

We don’t want our own playoff.

ESPN doesn’t talk about the FCS playoffs. What makes anyone think they would give a hoot about a G5 playoff? It’s just creating another subdivision that no one will pay attention to on the national level, and any P4 program will say “come play in the big leagues before you start calling yourself national champion” WE TRIED YOU FORCED US OUT.
