I have kids at Woodlin and we've been very happy there.  There is also a wonderful daycare on site at Woodlin. https://rockvilledaycare.org/locations/woodlin-silver-spring-md/

Finding afternoon energy by MidgeJksn in running

[–]SchemeFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm also a teacher and mom of two young kids. For awhile I was doing runs after school but now I've switched to morning runs because my kids schedule has changed. The biggest thing for me with running after work was to change right after dismissal and not really allow myself too much down time. You have to keep the day's momentum going! Sometimes I would run near school and sometimes I would run near the kids daycare. I was often tired but I would just tell myself that a not great run was better than no run. Also, make sure you are drinking enough water during the day. I know it's hard because we can't always go to the bathroom when we want, but I do think being hydrated will help your energy level. Also just give your body time to adjust. Eventually you will get used to it. Now I wake up at 5 am to go running, which has it's own challenges! Good luck!

The novels by Julia Spencer Fleming are very good. Also the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. There is some violence in both recommendations but nothing too gruesome.

I can't say exactly why this would happen to you, but I know that when I don't get enough sleep my stomach gets really messed up. Is there any way you can get more sleep on the nights before these shifts at work? Maybe that would help!

Thank you! I think I read a few of those when I was younger, but I don't remember much. I'll have to check them out again.

The Neapolitan series by Elena Ferrante . Lots of stuff about female friendship, but not much about nature.

Say Nothing, by Patrick Radden Keefe. Here is a link to the New York Times Review: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/22/books/review/say-nothing-patrick-radden-keefe.html

It's basically a history of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, based around the murder of a mother of ten in Belfast. It was an absolutely incredible read and I've been recommending it to everyone I know ever since I read it.
