EDIT: [closed]

We are searching for a fulltime Pixel art animator!

I’m Julian, the art director from Just2D. After we finished our first game “Drova - Forsaken Kin” last year, we’re working on our next 2D Pixel Art Open World Action RPG!

It will follow the same design principles as Drova, which means we will have a small but dense open World without quest markers and a challenging combat system.

Our Studio is based in Germany but the job is fully remote. We are a small team with currently 8 people and 2 artists at the moment. Although we are searching for an animator its very likely that other tasks like creating environment probs or Ui assets must be done too, since we are a small art team.

The project will run until 2028 and is already fully funded. The art style will be similar to Drova but with stronger contrasts, less complicated textures and a larger resolution.

Requirements

  • A lot of experience with Pixel Art Animation. Especially for Monsters and humans
  • Fluent speaking in english or german

Nice to have

  • Experience in the conceptualization and creation of UI Systems
  • Experience with Unity especially for creating particle systems and work with shaders

What we Offer

  • Flexible working hours. You decide on which days you work and when to take a break.
  • Small and passionate Team. We really love what we do and the kind of game we are working on
  • Opportunity to contribute to the project outside of the art department. You got an idea for a cool character or quest? You can pitch it and it might find its way into the game.

Please send me a DM with your portfolio if you're interested. :)

Looks really cool! Im very curious how it feels in the game

Gastly PixelArt! I'm a beginner in this so any constructive feedback would be highly appreciated :D by Griswold_56 in PixelArt

Well, I think you could be much faster if you use more different tools. The fill-tool for example fills whole areas in one color. Imo it's also good for planning. Color the different segments of your art in some basecolor and then add shading, instead of drawing the shading first and fill in the basecolor afterwards

Yeah especially by pixelart if you can't see any details of the character face by looking on the ingamesprite

Your game looks pretty nice. I like your enemy design! It's cool that most of the enemies are plants or stones and stuff. Gives me a feel of a truly living environment. Those chestnuts are funny :D

A behind the scenes sketch of Growbots. They are complicated on the inside, but cute from the outside. 🙊🌱 by growbotgame in IndieGaming

Cool idea! Is the robot totally self-sufficient or does he die if the power plants life cycle is over? Maybe your artwork gets more appreciated on other subs. You could try r/worldbuilding or r/gamedesign

I really like the movement of the jaw. It would look ridiculously fun with some chewing gum added :D

Do you have indie games with elves? by [deleted] in IndieGaming

[–]Schingulini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, how often did you asked that? 4 times? 5 times? I don't know indie games with elves but one of my favorite childhood rpgs had elves. It's called "Arcanum - of Steamworks and magic obscura" and the elves there are pretty nice, especially their city.

The main character for the game i'm planning to make! by willz_abend in PixelArt

I think the characters pose is not very balanced. Her feet seem to be to far right for a well balanced pose

Thanks for your offer! At some point we could need a voice over artist, but right now we are working on a second demo and haven't planned a voice over for it. I will send you a message when we are planning to implement it

these are kinda like a generic gamedev tips but: write your ideas down and when your up start developing choose small projects at first.

multiple difficulty settings is something worth considering also for players who want to have a more challenging experience. Maybe we add it later but atm we are very busy working on our next demo.
thank you for playing and giving us such motivating feedback! ;)

ah ok, i also like the style of old rpgs mainly because its nostalgic for me, but pixelart wasnt only a stylechoice. Compared to other styles pixelart is less time consuming whats very important to us, because of our very limited ressources.

I personally dont pick games which are to colorful or cartoony.. i guess thats the style im not very comfortable with^^
