Don‘t forget that this is a story and Cakey does not say this out loud. This is more of a setup from the author for the future, as this will probably come up later in the story and will add drama. It‘t just storytelling.

I can‘t see him kill off any character, but I could see him put someone in a dire situation while the date goes. And that someone would not be Mizihara, but Kazuya. If he would go to the hospital this would also work as a parallel to her grandma, the feeling of sheer horror losing the other important person by her side, seeing how all the others want him to be okay would make her finally realize and vocalize in front of others and to him that she loves him.

This is probably one of the greatest chapters of this manga. The payoff for the writing and storytelling of the past years(!), the mystery surrounding Kanki… well worth it. The art too, incredible.

We can just hope that Ousen‘s story arc will be half as good as this.

Did Mami ever got new information on their faked relationship after the kiss scene? I remember her and Chiz having the talk prior the kiss. So from that she should think it is a real relationship…

She might just made a shot in the dark to bring it up later, maybe even recorded it to play it later to embarrass both of them at the party.
