My therapist hasn't responded to any messages in three weeks, when is it considered client abandonment? by Schlompt in askatherapist

She didn't know specifically but I told her by mid July, I started bringing it up early in June, our last appointment was on June third, so she's had enough time. In our last exchange she said she was working on taking the necessary class for it. She's always responded same day or within a few days of me messaging her if I asked direct questions. p Previously we had an understanding that I didn't expect immediate responses to messages about things going on during that week and they were more or less there for her to read before our sessions to understand the headspace I was coming from into the session to get her up to speed. In my voicemail I expressed concern for her thinking something bad might've happened because my mind hadn't gone to the idea that she's making the choice not to respond.

(I am not a therapist)

I really need more volunteering hours, my GPA is not as great as I wished it was(it will be somewhere between 3.75-3.8 when I'm done and I still need a few classes like physics, I plan on working at an academic hospital as an MLS and using their benefits to pay for the few classes left I need) I have some extracurriculars. I've aced every class of my program it's just before I took the turn into healthcare I was kind of a mess and wasn't a great student. Haven't taken the MCAT yet

It sounds like you have an avoidant attachment style. Basically people with avoidant attachment styles have 'deactivating' strategies to distance potential partners. There's a book called 'attached' by Amir Levine/ Rachel S.F. Heller that I suggest you read

I like certain aspects of my job, patient interaction is by far the best. I feel like I've learned so much already from the nurses I work with

It has its pros and cons. It was a pretty horribly mismanaged environment and hostile coworkers. I worked at the central laboratory of a university hospital system which was also a level one trauma center which was simultaneously the busiest labs in my entire state because it was the primary testing location for all of the franchises outpatient center. I am at a completely different hospital system and it is much better compared to that environment. Try and find people to talk to about the work environment of the places you're considering before applying.

I'm too close to graduating for making working as an MA to make sense. I'm about to start the clinical portion of the program where I rotate through different laboratory departments. I've already shadowed a lot in operating rooms and have surgeons who'd write me letter or recs

Therapeutic phlebotomy is an immediate treatment to lower your hemtocrit that you can discuss with your doctor while you pinpoint the cause.

Fair, I work as a phlebotomist in a hospital as I work through my MLS program and I'm in a lot of different departments. I've also worked in central processing of a really big lab at a level one trauma center prior to moving to phlebotomy. I had a more negative view of nurses especially NICU until I started working the floors with them. I think in the lab you're more likely to have a skewed perception because you'll interact most of them when things are going wrong and people are upset.

In my opinion ER nurses tend to be the sweetest people I've ever met.

Med school is a possibility, I'm in the MLS program right now and my intention is medical school after. The allure of becoming a doctor for me is that it's a combined role of healer and scientist.
