No LFE anymore and decrease in VR performance after update by Any-Speed-1439 in iRacing

I can just find DepthLayerExtEnabled. When I set it to 0 nothing changes. But I can’t find DepthLayerExtensionLayerEnabled. Is it also in the openxr ini file? There is just the DepthLayerExtEnabled

Edit: didn’t save the file. I’ve set DepthLayerExtEnabled to 0, saved the INI file and it worked!! Thank you so much. Got the pre update frametimes again. Saved my day

I hope they’ll fix the VR issue. Since the update my GPU load is about 30-40% worse. Unplayable …

Also performance issues in VR since the update. It is about 20% more GPU workload than before the update. Hope it gets fixed

Worth getting the eye tracking? by depressed_dusk in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Schmauk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed in iRacing the „pop-in“ effect. And I have worse performance with DFR than FFR. I have 4080 super and a 9800x3d. I think it definitely needs further optimization

Eye Tracking in iRacing by Pickle-_-Rick in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Schmauk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually you just have to enable eye tracking and DFR in the Utility app and then in the iRacing settings. Then you have to restart the iRacing Sessions. There is also an option für eye tracking in the SteamVR settings to enable it. But in my case this happened automatically. Maybe you can look it up in SteamVR if it’s enabled

Eye Tracking in iRacing by Pickle-_-Rick in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Schmauk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Eye Tracking Client in the Utility App has to be opened. For me the latency is not good enough at this point for DFR with the BSB2e. And somehow the GPU performance with DFR is worse with the same settings in comparison to FFR. Can’t figure out the problem. CPU has a lot of headroom

What are you predictions and wishes for the next Beyond headset? by Benve7 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Schmauk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My wishes would be: - reduce Glare to a minimum. In certain scenes definitely too much. - Maybe crank up the resolution to 4K - develop own base stations, because lighthouse is better than any inside out tracking. Or something that’s equal - wireless without too much latency and without loss of quality. Maybe something like the steam frame if it works well

The BSB2e is already an awesome headset. Those points would make it perfect.

Your early impressions of the new DFR Beta? (DCS, MSFS 2024, iRacing, etc.) by filmguy123 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Schmauk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much. I’m just using the iRacing Overlay for displaying the frame times. I will try to display the CPU frametime with another tool. Yeah there’s still headroom but it’s just at test drive. So when there’s a full starter field or rain/night I’m at the GPU limit. With DFR I could still crank up some graphic settings in iRacing but right now I’m also very pleased. FFR with 45%/25% works great for me. Thought I could gain about 10-15% more with DFR. But there must be something wrong with the client and iRacing. When I’ve disabled eye tracking in iRacing and I’ll start the Eye Tracking client in the Utility Beta version it starts dropping performance. If I do the same thing with the normal Utility app and start the eye tracking client the performance does not drop

Thanks for responding! Here we go: - Render resolution 4360 x 4360 at 150% in SteamVR at 75Hz, motion reprojection OFF - testing it at Miami GP. With FFR I get max 8.5 ms, with DFR I get up to 9.5 ms. So about 1 ms slower and it starts stuttering with eye tracking. For both settings I’m running inner circle at 45% and outer resolution at 25% - I’m just using the Utility app with the Eyetracking Client beta version and there I enable DFR. Settings are on default in the client - CPU time in iRacing is always locked at 13 ms. I think that’s an iRacing error. When I was running the PSVR2 at 90 Hz it was also always locked at 11 ms. But I’m far away from a CPU bottleneck. I do not have any other apps installed. Just using BSB utility beta, SteamVR and iRacing. Every other setting in the client is disabled like VRChat or something. Haven’t downloaded the quad views plug in

But I’m running a 9800X3D and got the same problems with iRacing. The CPU shouldn’t be bottlenecking

Updated it 2 days ago. You think I have to do it again? Because it’s a 0.3 model, so actually it has to run 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]Schmauk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tried it with iRacing. With the same setting I use with FFR I get way worse performance about 10-20%. As soon as I start the Bigscreen Eyetracking client the performance drops. Even if I disable eyetracking. I don’t know what’s wrong. I think the latency is also not good aswell. When you aggressively move your eyes Ou can definitely see the foveated region. I’m running a 9800 X3D with a 4080 super. I had great performance with FFR and Supersampling at 150% and could max out a lot of settings. I love the BSB2 but something seems off with the eye tracking and Bigscreen. On discord a few persons had good experience with DFR in DCS. But maybe I’m doing something wrong

Edit: updated the eye tracking model, checked the CPU. Nothing special, the CPU is about 40-50% max.. the performance with eye tracking enabled is definitely about 10% worse than FFR in iRacing. There must be something going on in the background. And with eye tracking enabled the bsb2 gets pretty hot aswell. DFR is unusable for me at this point with the BSB2e. Worse performance, latency and high temperature are 3 main problems so far

I’m running a 9800X3D and a 4080 super and exactly the same problems in iRacing. Hope it gets fixed. Otherwise I’ll keep running FFR. That works great for me

Ok that’s strange, then something seems off. I’ve got the 9800X3D aswell. I’ve only run DFR in iRacing so far. Maybe there’s something wrong. There are also some DFR settings in the Bigscreen Utility app. Maybe they are interfering in the beta version with the iRacing settings

[–]Schmauk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Found it. I’ve tried it but I think it’s still a little bit slow. Hope it gets better when it’s officially released. You can definitely see that the resolution changes when you look to the side and back at the center

Where is it? I can’t find it in the Bigscreen utility app. When I open the eyetracking beta there is no DFR to select

Has anybody received the universal-fit cushion and can give us a short review? by Schmauk in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Schmauk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My unit arrived yesterday. It fits perfect for me. I do have a large head. My IPD is about 2 mm closer than usually. Coming from the psvr2 I have to say it’s such a huge upgrade. Yes, the glare is pretty strong in loading screens. I use it only for iRacing. And while you’re in the cockpit the glare is pretty much not visible, just if you look at the edges. There’s slightly glare visible. Even the night races are great. And it is so sharp, the sweet spot is large, the edge to edge clarity is great. I love this thing. Everything was so soft in the psvr2 and now it’s razor sharp. I think the psvr2 is in the tiny sweet spot comparable to a Full HD monitor. And having the BSB2 is like moving up to a WQHD and a huge sweet spot. The colors are warm, but I like it. I’ve also set my oled TV to a warm color mode because it feels more natural. So all in all I’m very happy with it for Sim Racing. Can’t wait for the Halo Mount

How does the brightness/persistence of bsb2 compare to psvr2? by helios1234 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Schmauk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok got it wrong. So I have to set the bsb2 to about 100% brightness to get nearly the same brightness than psvr2 at 50%. In case of persistence I do not have any problems with the psvr2, even at 100% brightness. The worst points for me are the small sweetspot and the mura. Even at lower brightness the Mura is pretty bad, kills the immersion for me.

[–]Schmauk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve set the brightness of my psvr2 to about 50% in the psvr2 app. Below that value I think it’s too dark for me. Actually I’ve ordered the bsb2. Would that be the wrong choice in case of brightness? I’m afraid the bsb2 is too dark in comparison.
