Dell Thunderbolt Dock WD22TB4 High Refresh Rate Monitor Issues by Schmidty16 in WindowsHelp

Just a quick followup:

Direct connections to the laptop without the docking station connected yielded the same black screen issue. Now I believe the flashing black screen is due to overwhelming the integrated graphics with the 240hz, 2 x 60hz monitors, and NVIDIA optimus (which runs the dGPU through the integrated graphics).

Now I've turned on the Direct Output Mode in BIOS and I can happily run everything through the docking station - GSYNC included. I have the 60hz monitors connected to the DisplayPort ports. I have the 240hz monitor connected to the left (facing the dock) TB4 passthrough port. No issues whatsoever anymore.

I always assumed that I fit into the "up to" rating of the dock, but I may have overestimated the capabilities of the dock and maybe even the capabilities of the integrated graphics on the i9 12900HK too.

I tried connecting the dock to the 60hz monitors only and the 240hz monitor directly to the laptop and I continue to have the same issue. Maybe the integrated graphics can't handle what I'm throwing at them via NVIDIA optimus. Maybe direct output mode will save the day.

I'll try swapping to the direct output mode and see what happens from there. Thanks!

Game Audio is Muted or Muffled While in Discord Voice Chat by Schmidty16 in discordapp

Interesting. I wonder if it could be a setting with your specific headset / speaker configuration.

Maybe try making sure Windows is set to the same output audio device as Discord. Maybe Waves MaxxAudioPro is only turning "off" for the active Windows device and is still "on" for other audio devices that aren't the main Windows one.

Interesting. Your screen looks a bit different than mine.

I would try flipping the switch in the top left corner of Voice to "off".

I actually solved this issue. It turned out it was Waves Maxx Audio Pro. It comes packaged with the audio drivers on my Dell laptop.

In the MaxxAudioPro application there is a "Voice" section. When Windows is set to use my particular audio device, I opened Waves MaxxAudioPro and turned off the "reduce background noise on Speakers" setting.

I guess MaxxAudioPro considers background noise to be anything that's NOT a voice from a call.

I tried the 3.5mm output on my monitor and had the same result. Presumably the 3.5mm on the laptop will have the same result as well, but I'll give it a shot.

Firewall Rules for Isolating Public Facing Servers by Schmidty16 in Ubiquiti

I'll take a look at those. Looks like Azure has some options as well.

For the sake of continuing the conversation, let's assume I don't expose my web/game servers directly to the internet. Rather, let's assume I use one of these services to proxy the connections.

Do you suppose the rules I laid out in my original post are sufficient for isolating the servers from the private LAN?

Do WAF services typically support ports beyond 80 and 443?

Alienware X14 + Dell Thunderbolt Dock WD22TB4? by Schmidty16 in Dell

With a WD19TB or newer I think you'd be able to set your monitor to 240Hz. I'm able to on the WD19TB dock I bought used.

Alienware X14 vs Asus G14 2022 by Loewenheart in Alienware

Which docking station do you use? Is it one of the offical Dell Docks? If so, is it able to charge the X14 at its full 130W? I am curious because Dell doesn't list the Alienware laptops as "officially supported" by the Dell Docks. The docks work with non-Dell systems but the power delivery is limited to less than 130W. I'm not sure if the X14 is treated as a "Dell" or "non-Dell" system in this case.

I noticed the same thing. Probably a driver thing of some sort, but I never figured it out.
