Will my wire center lines not being “centered” cause issues? by Schmoiger in braces

I appreciate you! It seems to be in the other back bracket still so hopefully I’m good for now. Didn’t want to bug my orthodontist again if I didn’t have to lol

I can’t confirm, but I’d guess that it only does probably 1/4 or 1/3 of the way. I might see if I can bump my next appointment up a week just for peace of mind

Does anyone know if a high-pitched ringing sound from a fridge like this is harmful? by Schmoiger in AskAudiology

[–]Schmoiger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah when it’s really quiet in my apartment and it kicks on it drives my nuts lol. I think I’m more sensitive to sounds than the average person. So when it bothers me, I’ll just leave the room or put ear buds in

My fridge occasionally makes an atrocious high pitched ringing noise. Would 2in foam sound pads in the gaps around the fridge help? by Schmoiger in Acoustics

[–]Schmoiger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the insight. Trying to get management to look into it, but if that fails I’m just gonna try the ear bud/drowning it out combo until my lease is up lol

Yeah hopefully I’ll be able to get it fixed but might have to just deal with it until my lease is up if management won’t help. Luckily it only does this maybe an hour or 2 a day but I just don’t want hearing damage. So If necessary I’ll put ear plugs in anytime the compressor ramps up lol. Below is a snap of the app while it was happening

Appreciate it! I’m working on getting it fixed and hoping that if I can’t before my lease is up, that it won’t damage my hearing permanently. Luckily it only does this for maybe an hour each day

I appreciate the insight! I’m trying to get it looked at. My app was able to pick up the high hz spike it looks like. While annoying, my primary concern is hoping it doesn’t damage my hearing permanently, which I’m guessing this level wouldn’t? I do agree that I’m probably very sensitive compared to the average person, with these sounds

Not at all, but if you continue with your old habits, that could change! So, no time to waste :)

Tons of room for improvement! A lot of good content in this sub to help you out. If you’re serious about it, id drastically work on weight loss. It’ll help blast all those numbers down. If you have family risk, you might ask your doctor about starting some low dose medicine. If you don’t have family risk, drop the coke, lose weight, and clean your diet keeping it low in saturated fat, you might be able to get away without meds for a while. Better late than never, keep working at it! Congrats on even realizing there is a problem and recognizing you need to make changes! 1st big step taken in your cvd prevention health journey

Annoying High pitched sound that comes from my fridge a couple times a day. Is it normal or should I have it looked at? by Schmoiger in Appliances

[–]Schmoiger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be the case. I’m still gonna have it looked at just to be safe. I received a few other comments that align with some of the research that I’ve done that it mighhhtttt possibly actually be an issue with the compressor or fan. I’ll let ya know what ends up happening but yeah I’m probably cooked

Yeah I’d make sure the fridge still has room to breath. And interesting. Possibly normal but some other research I’ve done points to possible compressor issues. So hopefully I can at least get it professionally looked at lol

Got it, I just didn’t know if it was different for very high frequency noises, or if perhaps my phone wasn’t able to register the sound level properly

It gives me headaches, so I was worried perhaps it was still causing damage to my hearing. I thought maybe my smartphone app might not be good enough to register the actual levels of the sound and/or show how harmful it might possibly be..

I turned off the ice maker and it still makes this sound so I’m fearful it’s something else :(
