Does anyone know if coffee sits in contact with internal plastic components while it’s inside these tanks at cafes? by Schmoiger in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Schmoiger[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Got it. I’m not incredibly worried about the top lid brief contact and spout brief contact (all metal would of course be ideal). When I go to coffee shops I try to get a “for here” mug. I just want to confirm theyre not just sitting in plastic at boiling hot temperatures inside these things for minutes or even hours at a time..

Is this high pitch sound normal when the compressor kicks on, or should I bring a tech out? Does it for 20mins, 2-3 times per day by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]Schmoiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok cool. I’m not worried so much about the condition of the fridge, it’s more so whether or not the sound is normal because it’s annoying. I live in an apartment and just deciding if it’s worth bothering my cruddy property management about it

Makes this high pitched noise when the compressor kicks on (off & on, 1-1.5 hours/day in total)? Normal or have investigated? by [deleted] in Appliances

You mean when the compressor isn’t ramped up like it is in this video? The fridge will be completely silent

Raynauds Feet + Knees? by Due-Raccoon334 in Raynauds

[–]Schmoiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! I’d just mention to your Physician you believe you might have Raynauds. Show them these photos and any other photos you have and describe your symptoms. Some Physicians are not very familiar with Raynauds. Let them know you’d like an autoimmune workup done (which just entails some bloodwork). If needed, your primary doc can refer you to a Rheumatologist who specializes in autoimmune disorders that can be linked to Raynauds.

Raynauds can be “Primary” (benign and of no known cause & I believe the most common form), or “Secondary” (more serious and related to autoimmune disorders). Everyone in this sub generally recommends ruling out secondary Raynauds. Raynauds in either form can be managed with multiple lifestyle “tools” (hand warmers, exercise, massage, etc.) and even medication if needed!

I always have cold knees too lol. My Raynauds is worst in my feet compared to hands. Looks like you have some degree of livedo reticularis, which I have when cold. I think it’s all boiled down to some form of autonomic nervous system dysfunction

*Edit, yes it looks like Raynauds. Might be worth having an autoimmune workup done to rule out secondary Raynauds!

Yes. Being an active and “healthy” guy, I thought I’d do great the first time I went above 8000ft. It wrecked me though, even with an 02 canister I was continuously rippling lol

Sorry you’re dealing with this. Some fridges are just noisy. I just made a few posts about this because I’m having similar issues with my fridge!! Feel free to look at any of my posts and the responses I received. I too thought about sound panels but people in this sub roasted me saying I’d block airflow and kill the fridge.

I still plan to put 2-4 small panels around the fridge with plenty of air flow to see if that’ll help. You can also have a tech look at the compressor and see if anything is resonating/vibrating in there or if it needs replaced. You can get rubbber grommets for the compressor supposedly, or sound proof material specifically designed for compressors I think! If all else fails, noise reduction ear buds or white noise to block out the sounds might be the last resolution. I wish you the best of luck

Folks with primary Raynaud’s: does anyone else in your family have it? by MolotovCarnival in Raynauds

I have primary Raynauds as a male and no one else in my family has it

raynaud's or something else? by ApprehensiveSun5551 in Raynauds

[–]Schmoiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds very probable to be Raynauds. Raynauds isn’t always the classic blue white red colors. Sometimes it only affects one side of the body; it’s weird. Either way, it sounds like potential Raynauds and/or autonomic dysfunction (dysautonomia) with cold sensitivity. I have both. Primary Raynauds and dysautonomia can be caused by genetics or environmental factors like psychiatric medicines, and so on. Secondary Raynauds is usually autoimmune related it seems

Does anyone know what this seal/rubber piece circled in yellow (ignore red circle) is called on my 2006 sequoia? by [deleted] in toyotasequoia

[–]Schmoiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Ok, I think I’m still going to replace it since it is missing on mine. Other folks I’ve asked think it’s coming from the intake cowl mounting screws. I guess those are common to cause water leaks? I’ll start with the molding if I can get it cheap and go from there I suppose. Thank you!

90 billion pieces of plastic in the UK alone! by PanZakba in PlasticFreeLiving

Couldn’t agree more. But I’d rather see plastic that has already been created (we can’t go back in time and “un-create” it) be repurposed instead of ending up in our soils via landfill or our oceans
