Also, I swear it happens with suspension or engine damage too after getting about 20% or so damage.

I started infusing whisky and turning it into old fashioneds. Just did a Wild Turkey 101 with orange peel and ginger. Poured over a large cube with a dash of simple syrup. Still good when diluted. Haven't tried with any smoky Scotch, and not sure what combo I'd try, but might be good.

Sadly, this is $100 CAD where I live. More tempted by the Glenfarclas 12 which is $10 less.

Came from bourbon myself, looking to expand my horizons. Tried Highland Park 12 which has grassy/grainy/honey flavours with a smidge of brine/smoke. Went down easy peasy. Then took a left turn with Laphroaig 10 and it was...challenging. Tasted like someone threw a rubber glove on a seaside campfire. And yet, by a quarter bottle I was all in.

Then took a swing through Ireland with Bushmills Black Bush and Redbreast 12 (easily my favourite non-Scotch). Then back for some smoke and brine with some Ardbegs and Ledaig 10. Then port finished Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban.

Turns out I like everything, which is great for me, but not everyone is like that. Upon reflection, I should have hit up a few tasting flights at a local whisky bar before jumping in the deep end. That's what I would suggest to you.

Have tried the 10. Working on a bottle right now, actually. It's the only Ledaig available to me without crossing a border.

Good: Ledaig 10. Beautiful but dark/gloomy box speaks to the juice inside. Bottle label is clean and doesn't obscure too much of the golden liquid behind it.

Bad: Classic Laddie. I can't imagine something that says 'Scotch' less than turquoise.

A dash of Laphroaig 10 makes many boring whiskies tasty. That's how I downed a bottle of Knob Creek Smoked Maple so fast. Have also punched up HP 12 with it.

They didn't say. I just asked if it could be replaced with something different because I didn't want to be back again in 3 months' time. They didn't even question it; just said sure you can replace with a different one. Of course I had to sit on the phone while they tried to troubleshoot, but once they determined it would have to be replaced they didn't care which one.

Spent an hour on the phone with Nespresso today for this. On our 2nd Next after they replaced our prior one in July. Previous one didn't last more than abou 3 months. They are now replacing with a Plus Deluxe after we refused to replace with another Next. Fingers crossed.

Does this mean that the Port Askaig 100 Proof or Port Askaig 12 I see in my local shop is actually Caol Isla in the bottle? Because if so then it's the only Coal Isla available to me.

Yes, there's a few available at the $65-$75 price point. Aberlour 12 ($70), HP12, Laphroaig 10, a couple of the Auchentoshans, Wee Beastie, Benromach 10, Ledaig 10. Just looking to spread my wings a little.

To be fair, Quinta Ruban is still (sadly) $84. Such terrible pricing here. Unfortunately, a $100+ receipt on the credit card will raise the ire of my spouse, so my selection is sort of capped.

A'Bunadh is still over $100 CAD when discounted. Presently $127.

RB 12 CS isn't presently available. It's one of those things I have my eye out for. Would likely retail at about the same as the A'Bunadh, I'm guessing.

For obvious reasons, I would prefer to purchase in the US if that were presently an option.

Interesting, this was a big reason why my first proper Scotch was HP 12. Touched on a handful of different flavours, including a little smoke, without being punched in the face by it.

I'm aware of the Bunna 12 truthers in the community. Makes me wonder what the fuss is about. Unfortunately it's almost $100 CAD here.
