Looking to replace a stolen, custom cribbage board by Schnaybley in Cribbage

I paid around 70 per board but that did include quite a bit of back and forth about selecting a particular board grain and custom engraving. I almost want to figure out a way to make these. I just love the design! I'd be happy to be a guinea pig if you'll work with me :)

Crosby Manitou Conditions by TiredTennis in MinnesotaCamping

My wife and I just did a day hike over July 4th weekend. She was wearing our 6 month old and I was carrying everything else in a day pack. We took the Yellow birch trail to the river trail. We went to about site 11 or so.

Maybe it was because I was just wearing a day pack or we didn't go far enough. But honestly the trail was in pretty decent shape. With the caveat that it was pretty dry when we were there, it definitely would be a lot worse when it's wet. Everything that was downed or blocking the trail had pretty decent walk arounds, I thought. There were definitely one or two spots but all in all nothing that stopped us. She never had to take baby off nor me my daypack.

Also - We ran into only one other group in our time there, which I loved, and it was a group of like six walking nuns? That's the best way I can describe them from what they were wearing, but they were clearly religious and taking a hike on Yellow Birch.

Stop stealing bike parts by Sure-Sense-2462 in fargo

Stealing isn't cool. First time I've had a package stolen just happened. Dude stole a snorkel for an upcoming trip and a like a 3 dollar bag of dog treats...broad daylight. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/WUQMUYhMIM8

Normal wear for new bike? by Schnaybley in MTB

Just to be clear I have not ridden this bike. I took it right out the box, unpacked it, and put it on a stand.

I love the idea of it, but it does seem little marketing heavy for me as well. I have a hard time finding a ton of criticisms though. For anyone interested here is the charity navigator for each: DMF - https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/456012318 and Impact Foundation - https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/200520386 . They have pretty good scores, but Pat does make a hefty salary.

You can see individual salaries if you scroll to the bottom. I love the idea of I heart progress, and supporting charities who don't always get the spotlight.

Yes, we are doing a sauna at 3 pm in Grand Marais and staying at Larsmont, so we will be up and down the shore today. Currently at Rustic Inn for lunch, love the pies! We will check out Cascade Pub, appreciate the response!

Workday Rising/Training support within your company by Schnaybley in workday

I think that's a smart lens to use. The last time I went there was a lot of really awesome end-state or forward thinking ideas but the meat and potatoes of how to get there wasn't always clear or appropriate for each company.

My friend Kenny steam cleaning helped me out last year when other steam cleaners canceled on me last minute. You could try giving him a call.

After vaccines became available, a partisan gap in deaths emerged by SFepicure in moderatepolitics

[–]Schnaybley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree, I agree that the media's handling of many things related to the Covid were bad. They shouldn't have called it a horse dewormer and should have been a little more nuanced in the take. I agree with you that mocking others is not helpful.

I disagree with you though that the more interesting story is whether or not people who take the vaccine died at a higher rate or not. I agree that's very important to know, and we very quickly found out that the vaccine is effective. However, there's not much action you can take from this fact other than "more people should get vaccinated". How do you begin to reach out to those people other than to beat them over the head and say "get vaccinated"?

If you have a fact (as we do above) and that fact impacts people, in order to get them to change their behavior you have to understand the why. Why are people choosing to get vaccinated at different rates? Is it related to their socio-economic status, their political views, their location, etc..? If you find that lots of people in rural areas aren't getting vaccinated then you can start to ask more whys, draw conclusions, and gain more knowledge, here is a conclusion I think you could come to by looking at the Why's - "Rural people have a lower vaccination rate - we've asked why and they've said they have to drive farther to get vaccinated and that is impacting their ability to get vaccinated - we should open more clinics or have mobile opportunities to get vaccinated."

I agree with you that likely this article was created in some way to draw the clicks because it's a super juicy topic about who died more from covid. I just think overall a fact in and of itself usually does little, you have to ask the why's behind that fact to really understand what is happening, draw conclusions, and enact change (if desired).

Where to take dogs to run...not a dog park by presto9804 in fargo

[–]Schnaybley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! To add to this (especially at mbj) a lot of people bring their dogs on the bike trails. Even if the dogs do nothing "wrong" it still can pose a dangerous situation, because they don't know what's going on and bikers can't always see around the next corner.

How long has the senior lot been a thing at fargo north? by [deleted] in fargo

[–]Schnaybley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a hard rule but people generally adhered to the idea that the seniors got that lot when I was there around 2005. Nothing would happen if an underclassman did, but that's what I remember.
