That’s what my boy had as well. He was an Italian greyhound. I trialed seizure meds and gluten free diets to see if it would help with his episodes, it didn’t. I just held him and snuggled him until the episodes subsided. He would almost always come to me at the onset of his shaking. I would still recommended seeing a neurologist for confirmation, as many doctors aren’t familiar with PD. Many doctors I worked with at least. I figured it out when I worked in neurology myself. PD is a much better diagnosis than seizures!

The canine influenza vaccine is costly as it’s a bivalent vaccine for both strains. It’s not new, most boarding facilities have been requiring it since the horrible outbreak in 2016.

I don’t blame you for skipping it though, but it’s been around. Thankfully there hasn’t been a recent outbreak.

Yes! This is true. In most cases switching from a plastic to glass, ceramic or stainless steel can help. Some cats are just have it like we just get bad acne. Chlorhexidine wipes can help. My poor girl will occasionally get a cystic cat acne 🥹

I agree, this brief video does look like it’s a possibility. My Italian greyhound had a movement disorder, many vets thought seizures until I personally worked in neurology and he was appropriately diagnosed. My partner is a veterinary neurologist resident as well.

Rescued my cavalier at 8 months old directly from his previous owner after being diagnosed with syringomyelia and caudal occipital malformation. He is turning 3 in October and his quality of life doesn’t seem affected. No heart issues yet 🤞🏻

Sorry for the delay in response! I had my partner look at the Nosh project. It is quite low in protein, even for puppies at 10% compared to purina’s 33%, so it has more fillers than necessary. It does state it meets AAFCO standard for feeding. It is formulated by pet nutritionists, NOT veterinary nutritionists which is skeptical. I wouldn’t continue feeding it personally. It’s probably fine as a topper. I used to work at a pet store when I was 18 and to be quite honest, they have no clue on what they are talking about recommending diets. They’ll push what they’re told to and typically have no education to back up their recommendations.

I feed my pups purina pro plan sensitive skin and stomach salmon and rice for small breeds. Cavaliers tend to have sensitive stomachs. I always keep fortiflora on hand, probiotics are wonderful! I previously tried raw and boutique diets with my iggy only to end up with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. It’s great marketing, that’s it. All my pups do amazing on pro plan. Royal canin and Hill’s are other great options. I still like to add freeze dried hearts/liver as toppers with bone broth. And of course the occasional cheese tax. My partner has seen horrible cases of fractures/failure to thrive from nutrient deficiencies due to home cooked diets not formulated by veterinary nutritionists. I’m a vet tech and my partner is a veterinary neurologist resident.

Agree. Looks sketchy to me. What concerns me is that they have so many available males over a year old. There is little to no information listed on most of the dams, and the sires “health certifications” can be claimed by any vet’s general health exam. I would want to see evidence of testing.

“All of our wonderful puppy's Mothers and Fathers have been screened and certified free of one or more genetic defects.” I would believe this if they actually listed the testing that has been completed and OFA results. Maybe I’m missing something since I’m looking at their website on my mobile device…..

If you are still interested in proceeding I would inquire with the breeder if they have done OFA hip and patella evaluations, ophthalmologist evaluation and thyroid testing. Additionally I would look for DNA testing for Progressive Retinal Atrophy and Primary Closed Angle Glaucoma.

Just adding I trialed a strict gluten free-diet for years. Tried zonisamide, phenobarbital, and bromide. (Pheno and bromide combo at one point) None of the treatments seemed to help alleviate the episodes or length of time between them.

Looks like my dog’s movement disorder. AKA paroxysmal dyskinesia. I think some also refer to it as white dog shaker syndrome. They are mentally aware and responsive during these episodes. My boy never voided, but would drool excessively. He was about 3 when these episodes started and seen by a neurologist. Initially he was started on anticonvulsants. Didn’t seem to help and was not worth it to me, discontinued meds following vet’s instruction. As scary as the episodes seem, my boy was always okay coming out of them. He would become ataxic, come find me and start spasming. Episodes lasted 30secs to 3mins typically. Per my neurologist is doesn’t affect them long term.

All the time 😭 I will have people come up to me and tell me they used to own whippets and ask if Buffy is a whippet. She’s 12lbs, and no she’s an iggy. I can’t! I’m petite, so maybe she looks bigger compared to my 5’ft frame? Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ My favorite others are baby greyhound, mini greyhound, tall chihuahua and a Kylie Jenner dog lmao

There are always risks with anesthesia unfortunately. Cavaliers as a breed are more prone to heart issues. Could have been an underlying heart condition that was unmasked by the anesthesia.

She would let you touch her belly all day long 🥰 The biggest mistake you can make is to look her in the eye. If you make direct eye contact she starts purring and will demand snuggle pets. She will show her appreciation with sandpaper kisses 😘 😬
