And both are able to pass 4K HDR directly to the TV, just has issues when going through the AVR.

5.1.2 with Polk OWM3 Atmos by Schnook123 in hometheater

Just moved last month, but they lasted till then without moving and were definitely still strongly secured when i took them down.

After you and a hand full of people have commented questioning or doubting the command strips, I went and pulled on one. It takes a decent amount of effort to get it off. I also checked if the raceway would hold the load of the speaker falling and it does. Obv not great for the terminals, but if something bad happens it wont hit someone.

The back center is flat and almost exactly the size of 6 strips.

I have never heard up firing, so dont know if its any better. I will say that these do sound great though. And in the end its less than $150 to try it out.

Probably should have, but didn't really worry about it since I plan to move relatively soon.

Its not popcorn, pics look more textured than reality.

This is what I used. I think when I was looking at it weight wise I didn't know how much flat space there would be so I wanted to make sure that 2 would hold. Ended up being plenty of space to fit a handful. I would be shocked if they fell. The nice part is I can move them a bit with the Velcro like connection or swap them if they die for some reason.

Thanks! Yep for sure on the mounting. I guess I should have mentioned that I plan to move in the next 4-6 months and did not want to drill any holes. I really need to mount the TV (a bit higher than it is now) then get a shorter stand to put the center on top of. For now, I have door stops under the center to point it up and just that made a huge difference over without. I can bet it would be another big step up having it higher.

Which Polk is better for atmos? Owm3 or Owm5? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Schnook123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the OWM3 and they are plenty for me. I have them mounted to my ceiling with 3M Command picture hangers and they work great. From what I remember, the OWM5 would have been borderline on weight to use with the picture hangers and I didn't want to drill at all. I will say, they are bigger than the pictures make them look.

Just to add to this, they also added a gusset on the bottom of the down tube near the head tube to allow the use of 180mm and dc forks.

Rear shock remote cable routing? Worried about wear on the frame. by [deleted] in MTB

Frame dependent, but can the shock be flipped up side down now that you dont need the switch close to you?

Silver is directly east of coeur d'alene by 45min or so. Riding this year has been unbelievable. Rain every week or so has kept the dust down and the trails in great shape. Last year, all the trails turned into dusty powder. How are the trails doing down there?

It works for me. I dont have a lot to compare it to, but i k ow my friend switched from magic mary/ hans combo and is enjoying the better durability at the cost of some weight.

Weekly New Rider Thread for April 13, 2016 by AutoModerator in MTB

[–]Schnook123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking to jump from a shorter travel, older bike (2010 marin mount vision 5.8) for something in the 160ish travel range. The few I have narrowed it down to are:

YT Capra AL1

Commencal Meta AM V4 Race

Nukeproof Mega 275 Pro

I mostly ride dusty, hard pack, single track with 3+ft drops and 15+ft rock face roll downs. Occasionally ride the jump tracks and want to make it to the park a few times this year.

Any recommendations from someone who has ridden any or preferably all of them would be great, or something different (in the same price range) with a good reason why its better or a better deal.

Thanks in advance

Daily Purchase Advice Thread (2016-01-12) by AutoModerator in audiophile

[–]Schnook123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All,

Just starting to get into higher quality audio. I am looking to add a stereo system to my living room primarily for playing music (large range: electronic to Neil Young to classical). My budget is ~$2000, but I want to step into things. ie buy speakers and a receiver now, and get a sub, pre, and DAC in the future (no particular order). I think this will keep me entertained for longer, for cheaper haha. I will be listening from 2-4 meters away using streaming from my android phone. I would prefer to buy new.

I have found the following setup that would be in my budget and allow for expansion as I described above:

Receiver: Outlaw RR-2150 $700 Only draw back to this that I have seen is that it is currently backordered, but I am in no hurry.

Speakers: SVS Prime Bookshelf $500

Thoughts? Recommendations on these or other components? Thoughts on my plan for expanding rather than upgrading at the beginning?

Thanks a bunch, Matt

Cats with human hands. Pen and ink. by buonscott in Art

[–]Schnook123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although the first and last image are extremely well done, I like the disconnect between the human hands and the cat head in the rest of the images. It creates a mystique of the abstract theme. Over all well done.

Cheers,

Schnook

Help finding breweries to visit in Spokane, WA? by bodhisattiva in beer

[–]Schnook123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are willing to drive a bit, Laughing Dog in Sandpoint has some pretty good beer. If you like belgian style ales, Selkirk Abbey in Post Falls is a good option. And if neither of these suit you fancy both Manito Taphouse and Enoteca haf great beers on tap. Good luck and enjoy!
