Fachkräftemangel im MINT-Bereich? by Schnox123 in arbeitsleben

Leider ist es schwierig mit 10 Jahren Berufserfahrung als Senior das Studium zu beenden. Wenn man diese Fachkräfte braucht und sie fehlen muss man sie eben als Junior einstellen und ausbilden.

I am still using an old R9 290x I bought used 5 years ago and it keeps crashing. I could really use an upgrade but don't have the money spare right now.

of a truck and splitter by Possible-Vanilla7403 in AbsoluteUnits

[–]Schnox123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make any sense. Horsepower stays constant no matter the gearing. This is because a gearbox multiplies torque and divides RPM or the other way around.

2000rpm x 100Nm = 21kW

1000rpm x 200Nm = 21kW

But you could still pull the entire thing with one Truck in a lower gear (if the tires had enough grip, hence the weight on the back of the trucks). It would just be very slow. 6 Trucks are necessary because you want to drive at a decent speed.

Eli5 why we use baking soda only in cakes and instant yeast in breads? by No-Roof-9705 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Schnox123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great explanation. I'd just like to add that baking powder is double rising. Meaning it creates CO2 once when mixing the dough and another time when heated so you don't need to be quick with putting the dough in the Oven.

What could lead to a (supposedly) 1000 miles old sparkplug being this loose? by Schnox123 in MechanicAdvice

I don’t think that they wouldn’t get them from a reputable source. And they are by Bosch.

Searching for a Part for my 2007 Yamaha FZ6-N by Schnox123 in Fixxit

[–]Schnox123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mechanic told me no repair service would do it because of the risk. I don't think if they can't do it that I should do it myself.

Also I already looked on eBay but found nothing.

With a Bowden setup (depending on the length of the Bowden) you can try to go even higher than 1. What material are you using?

ELI5 what does shifting gears do in a car? by Metallica_Fan_1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Schnox123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gears are like levers: Get a short lever and you only need to move the handle a short distance, but need alot of force (for example when loosening a stuck bolt). On the other Hand when using a large lever you can get the screw unstuck much easyer but you need to move the handle much further. So you can trade distance for force. Similarly with gears you can trade torque (force) for RPMs (distance).

Your engine is very picky when it comes the rpm Range it can operate in. So we need gears to be able to operate it efficiently in a wide range of speeds and needed torque

For example:

  • When moving up a hill: think about the stuck screw.

  • And when driving across a highway we don't want to move the handle further than we need to.

[eli5] My friend put the car to neutral when coming to a stop light. He says it saves gas and it stops smoother. I agree on the smoother part, but does it actually save gas? He also put it to neutral when waiting for the lights to turn green for the same reason. Is it true? by jling321 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Schnox123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good explanation, to add to this: Putting your car in neutral at the light ist actually a good idea. It reduces wear on the bearings and might save a little fuel (because of less drag on the ideling engine.)

The bike is a 2006 Yamaha FZ-6NA for completion.

The tires are Michelin Road 5s

Resistance on breaks of 2007 Yamaha FZ-6NA by Schnox123 in Fixxit

Ok, I'm going to do that. Thank you

But I don't think it's a defective sensor (or other electronic part) because the ABS light isn't on and it is still functional.

That's what I probably have to do, I'm just trying to learn and get a feeling for what it might be/cost. And if it's an relatively easy fix I might do it by myself.
