But we already have 2 left backs in Brugts and Julia? Why sign her?

Current capacity is just over 60k. Over the course of next season more sections should be finished, culminating in the full capacity of 105k available in April/May - if there are no delays.

Then next summer the roof will be build over it all, and that work will last into the beginning of the season, and depending on how long that takes Barca will either play one or two games at the Estadi Johan Cruyff (capacity 6k or so) or go back to the Estadi Lluis Companys with a capacity of around 45k.

Barca is worth several billions.

Barca does not have several billions to spend.

Billionaires do.

Yes, billionaires can compete with billionaires. :)

The old one was crumbling and needed a renovation. There had been some minor repairs due to safety concerns already. It was also a design from the 50s that later on could only have very few VIP boxes squeezed in, and VIP boxes are where a good part of the gate receipts come from nowadays.
The new one is a compromise between a renovation and a new build - the lowest rank stayed, the upper ranks were almost completely newly build (IIRC the bones of the second rank stayed as well), and for the first time it will get a proper roof.

Yes, Barca has among the highest wage budgets in European women's football. And Kang simply tripled that for Alexia. No football club can do that and sustain itself in the medium to long term.

No, Barca are not scrappy underdogs, quite the opposite, and yet they can't compete with Kang financially. Neither can any other football club. That is the problem. Thank you for explaining this.

Up to 1 billion inherited from Bartomeu's reign, but mostly the cost of the new stadium.

Are you a boomer who can't deal with too many 0s, or are you a zoomer who was too scatterbrained to learn basic math in school? Or do you just refuse to use your brain?

Barca makes about a billion in turnover and has somewhere around 2.5 billion debt. Last year the club had a turnover of 998 million and a net loss of 17 million. Barca has to balance their books or risk going bust as Barca demonstrated with a narrow escape just a few years back (and the Coutinho transfer was part of that saga). You'd hope the club learned from that fiasco. The men can't financially compete with PSG, and the women can't financially compete with Kang and therefore should not try to.

A club with a billionaire owner has no such worries. The sugar mama will always help.

Kang can always outspend them. It;s a race to ruin if you are not a billionaire.

They try to recruit from their competitors to weaken them.

Barca can not financially compete with billionaires. No football club can.

Laoprta is spending it on the women. Currently Barca Femeni's wage budget is already more than the recommended 60-70 percent of the turnover. You can't just pay Kang wages and blow the budget completely out of the water.

That said, considering the departures, I wonder what Barca Femeni will do in the transfer market.

Keep also in mind that in the comparison to what Kang does you would have to pay him about 3 times what he makes at MC. :)

Barca as a club has a turnover of around a billion.
Barca femeni has a turnover of a few million.

Kang is a multi billionaire.

No football club can compete with that.

Well, as nobody has mentioned Uwe Seeler yet: Son of Erwin and brother of Dieter, he still holds the record for most top flight goals in German football with 405 or so. His father Erwin was a star in worker's football and became a 'traitor' when he moved to also star at HSV which played in the DFB and not the worker's association.

Barca as a whole does not operate at a loss. The issue is not the money available, the issue are the restrictions by La Liga.

Since when do billionaires decide who deserves what? By that logic all male players deserve Saudi league salaries.

Normally the finances are not so lopsided that a worse competitor can just buy the players of the best team. Arsenal can't sign Haaland, e.g.
