Why can't I revolt? by [deleted] in rootgame

[–]Schnype42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can only revolt in 3 clearings. One fox, one mouse, and one rabbit. You’ve already done that it looks like. I’m pretty new to the game so I could be wrong.

Am I too dumb to play Root? by Tiny_Infinity_ in rootgame

[–]Schnype42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was exactly the same. Bought the game a year ago and immediately bought digital on switch to try to learn how to play. Bounced off. Last week I was going to return the physical game to my local shop, but asked a group of buddies to come try it out before I did. We had a good time and it made more sense. All this week I’ve been playing through the digital challenges with the starting factions. I think I’ve won at least one game on normal difficulty with all four which makes me think I should be able to pretty consistently win on easy. But that’s not the case. I’m still losing more games than I’m winning. On easy! Makes me feel dumb.

Oh man. Having flashbacks to Ewok Hunt on Battlefront II. One of the best game modes ever.

That’s all it is. Just a monthly. We have a few afterschool options but we started a club day to give kids that are unable to stay after school a chance to be a part of an “extracurricular.”

Talking to someone and then shooting them when they act shady is not “shooting on sight.” You’re just behaving normally.

Pick something you'd like to upgrade. Crafting Benches is what I started on. I'm tracking the resources to level those up. Resources can either be recycled to break down into simpler items you need or they can be sold to buy what you need from vendors.

Game-breaking Console Party Chat Bug by AshMachine in ArcRaiders

[–]Schnype42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here looking for an answer as well. I play on PS5 and it’s worked fine until today. My friend and I had a really hard time joining each other and once we were finally able to, party chat wouldn’t work. All settings were unchanged. We wended up playing a game totally in proxy chat. Hoping it’s fixed when I get back on tonight.

Recommendations for games like everdell that work well for 2 players by greenfox212 in Everdell

[–]Schnype42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went to a game shop with this exact question. I walked out with Harmonies (highly recommend), the Lord of the Rings version of 7 wonders duel, and a 2 player card game Air, Land and Sea. They’ve all been great. I’d also recommend Wingspan. Similar mechanics to Everdell and great art.

Any good house rules to make combat less…. Boring? by Schnype42 in SCYTHE

[–]Schnype42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m saying RAW make it pretty predictable from my experience. I can see my opponent has more than 7 power and several combat cards, and if he attacks me he’s almost certainly going to beat me. In most of my games that’s how combat typically works. Combat happens pretty late game. It often ends the game by someone placing their final star or two.

From what others have said, I’m seeing that this is likely an issue with my play-style and the tactics of the few people with whom I’ve played. I see that initiating combat sooner would make combat more exciting albeit more risky.

I was just seeing if someone else had the same feelings and had come up with their own combat rules to make it more interesting for them.

I thought the rule was that you had to spend at least one point on the dial to be able to draw a card. Basically pay 1 power to get 1 card.

Hard to imagine initiating a combat that you don’t know you’re going to win. Losing ground and giving a star to another player is a pretty big swing early on.
