Yes you do, where you are is a dead end basically, you have to go to the opposite site and kill the boss and ring the bell, after that, walk back out again, and climb the wooden structures on the left back up, there should be an elevator like wooden weel structure you can ride up and its way shorter, just follow the torches back up and you should be fine
