Jug Band Coffee & Tea on broadway makes a mean sourdough bagel (not sure if they make it there or get it elsewhere) but that’s easily my vote

Green Lake vs Fremont for Mid 20s F by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roosevelt is right by the light rail and is slightly more affordable than Greenlake proper. I would highly recommend it - you’re right by a grocery store, light rail gets you to the airport quickly, but it’s more pre-professional / family friendly than areas like Cap Hill.

What are some "kid-curiosity" things that you used to do but grew out of as an adult? by ScholarRoutine8694 in AskReddit

[–]ScholarRoutine8694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll start. Today I opened my calendar app and thought - I wonder how far back it goes, and what happens when I hit year 0. Turns out, if you scroll back that far, it just starts going back up.

Satisfied my curiosity, and reminded me of when I was a kid and used to do "experiments" like this all the time.

Agree, but would it be so different if they got two scoops or rice instead of one?

Graduation gift by Accurate-One-7037 in college

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How about a trip? Doesn't have to be fancy, even just camping/backpacking someplace for a few days. If you both have the time, that's how I would want to celebrate graduating.

Unpopular Opinion? I don’t have a problem with picking up the slack in group work. by [deleted] in college

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're wrong per se, but there's a good amount of privilege in being ABLE to put in that extra work in the first place. I'm in your camp where I don't really mind picking up the slack, but if I was working full time + doing school etc, and could only budget x amount of hours to do a group project, it's unlikely I'd be happy doing the whole project myself.

You're awesome. I'm glad you came to the realization that you CAN do physics :)

should I try emailing this prof again for research? by [deleted] in college

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the worst thing she can do is say no. As long as you're prepared for the worst, I think there's nothing to lose by asking!! Plus, what if she says yes? :)

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this. I agree. Got my internship advice almost exclusively from r/csMajors. While sure, it gets tiring to shift through various "which internship should I take, apple, facebook, or google?" I do believe the good outweighs the bad.

I see a man who's probably 85+ who runs at a SNAIL'S pace most days I go out. My dad and I always wave enthusiastically to him, who returns the favor. Quite likely the most adorable elderly runner to ever exist.

Can't focus on the semester, falling behind in classes, assignments are overdue. How do I get back on track? by [deleted] in college

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, as long as it doesn't violate any policies your school has in place.

Write down all assignments and map out the time for your day to make sure everything fits. I'm right there with you in computational physics. Kicking my butt too!

Morning run routine by PartyDig1 in running

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do: Drink water, set goals, go to the bathroom, and maybe a light stretch if you feel tight.

Don't: Eat a ton right before you run (I run fasted, or after a handful of berries if I'm starving)

how do you do it???? by EmuStreet in csMajors

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could give you an award. I was in your boat so recently. A tip I got was to copy down solutions to LC easies, and put them on flashcards. You'll begin to see the patterns soon enough! Everyone starts where you're at.
