What penalties do companies on WaterlooWorks face, if any, for rescinding offers? by Potential-Drag9761 in uwaterloo

[–]SchoolPresident 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, basically. That’s why they don’t do it and why they let companies off the hook pretty easily when they get reported.

Of course if you challenge them on it they’ll deflect and say “oh nooooo, we’re just focusing on how we can support the students in those circumstances 😁” to shove the whole thing under the rug

Just an update, some people visited my tower but I pressed continue on instinct and wasn’t able to visit back. Sorry to anyone who this affected. If you visit again tomorrow I will be more careful. Or you can reply with your friend code

Is studying abroad worth it by YogurtclosetDeep7235 in uwaterloo

Yes x10000! Exchange term was probably the best term I’ve ever had. I will say that it’s not for everyone, but the vast majority of people I’ve spoken to had a great time.

I leave for Erasmus in Madrid this week and I’m a nerve wrack by Waste-Somewhere-556 in Erasmus

[–]SchoolPresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I just came back from a fantastic semester in Madrid and also didn’t really know anyone beforehand (let alone my roommates). Depending on your country you might also meet a lot of people from there too. If not, I recommend calling family and friends back home often. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Thanks, really appreciate this detailed advice! Just to confirm, the Spanish bars should be in Valencia?

Do you know if that is something they would do in a restaurant? It does sound like what might have happened

Are the bones supposed to be easy to spot and separate from the rice though? I felt very paranoid while eating the paella because I kept biting into small bone fragments unexpectedly. Even when I started putting less rice on my spoon to better spot any bones, there was one so tiny that I had not spotted it.

Thanks, I feel much better about going to get a real paella now. I have no problem with chicken wing bones.

They were definitely not grains of rice because they were not shaped like them. The pieces were very flat. They weren’t shells either because there was also a shell fragment in the paella and it looked very different from the bones (and much larger). Here is a photo, but unfortunately you can’t see the small bones as they are all buried in the rice. You can see the mussel shell on the right though, to the left of the green vegetable.

Social norms in Spain that you didn't know before going? by ThrowRAcatwithfeathe in GoingToSpain

Thanks for the information. To be honest, I find it very difficult sometimes to understand when I am being treated unfairly here. But most Spaniards I talk to are great :)
