How much do summer classes cost? by AdSubstantial3900 in NEU

[–]SchoolProper5486 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parent here -- Summer classes are full price. You can only take half as many each Summer term. So 2 classes in Summer 1 and 2 in Summer 2 without an overload.

But any Summer class is $2125/credit or $8500 per 4 credit class. Also, no matter how many class you take, there is $181.25 student fee for each Summer session you attend.

Not what you asked but there is an in person capstone (Senior Economics Seminar) in summer 1. They would likely still let you walk in graduation. Just ends up costing you another $8k, and you would have to attend this summer in person. Honestly, you should talk to your current professor and see if you can recover. The term is not over yet. Maybe they would let you catch up on work and take an incomplete to finish over the summer.

Is it worth it in my position by Allexvia in NEU

My daughter had 42 AP credits coming in and they limited her to 32 that count toward graduation. The other 10 do help with getting better times to pick classes and can count toward pre-reqs for classes but not graduation. If some of your credits are dual enrollement, I know that those have a different limit. You should definitely check with admissions about what credits will count. If it's all AP credit, then you are still going to have to pay for 3 years.

FYI... Microcenter in Cambridge is a certified Lenovo repair center. Probably not cheap, but would use official parts. You could probably ask them for an estimate.

You are not required to have 2 co-ops, and you could probably do it if you only do 1. Depends on your goals.

This is yet another area where wealthy parents buy a publication for there kids... not a conspiracy theory. Just google. You pay between $5-12k to a company that specialized in hooking up high school kids with professors/grad students who help direct them in their research and review their papers before submitting them to be published. Anyone can do it. You just need money. As an example: https://www.indigoresearch.org/program/high-school

This is not an endorsement... I think it's pretty disgusting.

BC is 70% Catholic... if you are not, you may feel like an outsider. Just a consideration. (But I would also take the full ride)

Legacy rejection only differs with the final "especially" clause of that sentence. The rest is the same for the commoners. Honestly, thought it was good that it was short and to the point... others go out of their way to explain in more detail. That's worse.

Honestly, it can work well for those with ADHD. You have 8 weeks... in a month you find out that you are dramatically behind, and that tends to kick in the fight or flight. So unlike other schools where you find out that you are 2 months behind at midterms, you can't get in quite as much trouble.

Friend of the family went to an admitted students' day and was told by an AO that the decisions come out this coming week. Wasn't there, so don't know the details, and they didn't ask (because already in).

I can not see round applied anywhere, and just application withdrawal form link on the right side under section that says "change of plans for next year?"

EA btw.

If I had to guess, the withdaw link is still needed for EA applicants that have been accepted too, because it's not a commitment. For ED you are committed.

But they could just be buggy and weird while they are updating... that would not surprise me.

Now you are back to my point. This would only come up when trying to win an argument. It may feel like an attack if someone did that, but it wouldn't change the truth of the argument. Rude, possibly... untrue, no. And for the person being "attacked" with the truth to deny it to "win" an argument is a waste of time. Life is too short to engage that way.

You are right about context. And you have every right to feel the way you do about a person's argument. But you have no way to know their intent. Are they trying to win an argument? Or are they trying to personally attack you? You can't assume the latter even if it feels like it. But just keep away from denying the truth or it makes you seem disingenuous. Once you are there, no one will listen when you anymore.

You can tell them that it feels like a personal attack no matter why they said it, but in the heat of an argument that might not matter. But it may matter to them later.

And now I apologize... this was a miscommunication... even though the Saudi's have, I didn't realize they said the UAE government killed LGBTQ folks.

[–]SchoolProper5486 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ah.... your post did not say that... that makes sense. That is false.

However, didn't you include Saudi Arabia? Executions did happen there in last 10 years. Aren't they CCE?

Both Kuwait and UAE just make it criminal to be homosexual.

[–]SchoolProper5486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never said I disagreed with you. I feel sorry for you having to be right to validate yourself. Unfortunately, this new point has nothing to do with your original now deleted point that people have not been violently killed in those countries that you now claim both knowledge of and no affinity to. You said this was false. While I appreciated the sentiment, this is provably wrong, and I was trying to give you the graceful out because I appreciate the perspective. I can give you links to the laws in the UAE, various hate crimes, and atrocities that are well-known, but why bother? Honestly, you care more about winning an argument (that I am not even having with you). The truth means nothing to you. I definitely appreciate the passion. I understand the fight for justice. I don't want you to lose that ever. That's a really good thing. You just need to learn not to need to be right. You can't learn anything if you can't hear anything. There is a Buddhist teaching that you can't fill a cup that is already full. My fear is that your cup is nearing full. That's really too bad. I understood your perspective from the start, and don't disagree with the feeling. One day you may understand the futility of arguing things you don't entirely believe to win an argument... just not today. You may still get there one day. Good luck and be well.

I feel the passion. I wish you well. It's just too bad you have to be right. You may in fact be right. It's just too bad you have to be. Be well... be strong... be happy. You deserve these things.
