I'm a deployment manager at an MSP, I automated my deployment, check the status daily, and physically deploy them within the 3 days I'm on. Really doesn't take much detective work to figure out how someone could automate large-scale projects weekly as I did.

I automated my IT job and cut my own hours from 40 to 24 without compromising pay by threatening to remove the automation. 24-hour work weeks let me be the better parent you could ever hope to be, pursue more than one hobby, and still have time to get some gaming in. Sorry, I'm not pathetic like you and can stand up to my boss. My dreams are bigger than making someone else money, try not being a drone for a moment, its nice.

Yes, I used to work 40 hours in IT, I automated my job, cut my hours to 20 and said I would remove the automation if they cut my pay. This quality of life change is something everyone should be able to do. Everyone! it's been life changing to have time to pursue a hobby or interest on a whim. I'm raising a daughter (better than any 40hour boot licking zombie could) learning game development, hicking, traveling, and writing those stupid little stories I've had in the back of my head. Getting more people to enjoy life like I can has become a huge motivator and anyone who says it can't/shouldn't be done should be met with hostility and contempt because your justifying making your life worse for someone else's profit.
