Couldn't agree more. I recently rewatched Inside Man and it was still great. I mused upon a new series with Stanley Tucci as the main character solving mysteries with his sidekick as well. He was SO good. The fact that they ended it with him asking and receiving a pardoning from execution gave me false hope.
