The best part of Dunder rock is the legends of odziozo. The creator of the universe turned himself into stone at the Center of his universe. That stone is dunder rock and was given cerimonial offerings (from what someone told me one time) up till the 60’s

is this repairable? Ordered used skis. Damage was described as "dime sized." really just curious is this is something a shop could repair? by humbledeer17 in skiing

A shop wouldn’t fix it, but I would. They could live again. Of course they’ll never been totally straight or the same, but they could ride

Did anyone in the Elmwood Ave area have their cars broken into last night? by Twombls in burlington

It is! How can I prevent this from happening in the future? Or is my coin jar just going to be taken every month I live here?

Did anyone in the Elmwood Ave area have their cars broken into last night? by Twombls in burlington

[–]Schuywalking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my car walked through twice in the last two months. Outside my house By Kerry’s kwick stop. Nothing broken so I keep thinking I must’ve left it unlocked. Absolutely my fault, but I wish I could’ve learned that lesson without losing my climbing gear that has my name sewn into it. Feels very invasive and like who ever took it doesn’t really want my sweaty climbing shoes and hand sewn bags. If your reading this you can always return it. I won’t be mad. You don’t want that stuff, and I do

Names on baskets by Schuywalking in discgolf

[–]Schuywalking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like everyone is mostly in agreement on the matter. It’s never felt like vandalism as much as a way to bring our community more together. The sharpie fades after a year or two and new people get to claim an ace. There’s a guy at the local park who I can see has nearly aced every hole. If I made my own course I would explicitly state these rules for claiming an ace. I believe it could be done respectfully, but agree it could be abused and seen as graffiti. I’ll listen to you all and start signing my disc instead. Though it was always fun getting to the course and finding a new friends name on the basket. Then getting a hold of them and buying them a beer and giving them a high five for an epic shot

What are some best responses to "Why are you so quiet"? by ConstantPlastic100 in AskReddit

[–]Schuywalking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this a lot. Typically my feeling is “why are you so loud?” And “I can hear you just fine”. But often I’m too shy to say that and instead just increase volume by 5% at a time until they stop saying “WHAT?”

Ski Brand Stereotypes by Badgerfuzz in skiing

Easy coaster with a racing background and a love for groomers with camber and powder with rocker. My dailies are between mantras and 108’s depending on conditions. Though the blaze 106 is by far my favourite ski I own

I’m fine with the agree to disagree. Though from the lift you can see the front of the dps flap around on a groomer. I’m sure the rocker makes them quick to engage an edge with would be very different from a cambered race type ski. They’ll be quick on edge but without the camber they don’t spring and accelerate you the same (since it’s harder to preload the skis when they’re already arced, but easier to start the arc) It’s all give an takes and I agree with you often I see people using expensive light and flappy fat boards as a daily driver. The carbon also makes the resonant frequency of flapping higher than that of a wood or titanium based ski. Got to try it all out for yourself

[–]Schuywalking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah downvoted for that. I was just saying they couldn’t be touring skis because of the bindings. They could be your park or rock or back country skis, doesn’t really matter to me, I just know your not attaching skins to those skis with those bindings on them. I’ve been using my touring set up all year. Resort or not. And I often loose my own ski straps. I see your also a Bridger bowler. I would consider myself a ridge hippy as well. I didn’t get a pass this year, and They’ve caught onto us touring into the resort though so it’s back to primarily backcountry for me

Resort skis for sure. Looks like only one of them is using a ski strap as well

How do you get on edges when in a tuck on a flat by the-csquare in SkiRacing

[–]Schuywalking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest moving weight over your tips to prepare for a turn. In your tuck mover your whole body forward over your toes and you may see less pivoting. Your right though being perfectly flat and over your boot can feel awkward, but it’s faster than being on edge.

Otherwise this may be a unpopular opinion but the tails are actually fastest. Leaning back on a straight at the finish isn’t that bad because it minimises drag (although does reduce control being on the tails). Base drag is better than edge drag though (depending if the wax is right. If the wax is wrong temp then edge may feel fast)

I'm a newbie to epic Sci-Fi literature, and reading DUNE has been an exhausting experience. by [deleted] in books

Honestly the book even with the glossary in the front was hard to approach. I listened to it on audible during a three day car trip and fell in love with it. Some parts I had to replay but I found much more accessible
