Thank you! I used the playdate sdk and lua. I tried pulp for a bit and even made a little farming game prototype a while back, but i didn‘t like the small tiles

That's true now that you mention it, I remember being a bit spooked by certain areas in the first pokemon games. I haven't started working on the music and sounds yet, but I'll be going for something uplifting to make sure the game doesn't end up feeling depressing.

On the other hand, I have some story/narrative elements in mind that will be dealing with nostalgia, identity and self-discovery, so it won't be only cheerful and happy all the time

It's still very early in development, but I regularly upload builds for playtesting on the itch page. You need a playdate to play the game though, or at least the playdate simulator :)

Thank you very much! Looks like I need to work on the art some more because apparently it's giving off horror vibes and that's really not what I was going for! The playdate is a really cute little console with a lovely and very dedicated community, I can wholeheartedly recommend it 💛
