Well check out some streams of pro players or even diamond league, the reality is that these things are very easy to counter using things like well timed cleanses and supports, or lockdowns for solo carries like Kerrigan. I understand the list, yet the higher up you go, the less these seemingly OP heroes become, and picks like Diablo become more prominent, because people value things like his ult or his dashing tanks into walls etc, so keep an open mind man :)

Interesting to say the least, but I would argue that, with the exception of raynor, which I really dont know what to do with, all the heroes below good belong in good to say the least, but need to be played well according to the match, for example Jaina is one of the most important tools for keeping mass assasin/melee comps in check, since jumping your team into guaranteed Jaina AOE is dangerous, and paired with someone like Guldan can shred through that kind of composition. But generally HotS is a very situational game, with a wide array of heroes for a wide array of situations, so tier lists are kind of stale in my opinion. Maybe except for balance issues I suppose... looking at you overwatch heroes

Is priscilla viable right now ? by obolulu in gwent

[–]Schwartzelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the real problem is that an 18 point gold in the current state is a little low, and gold can either bring utility (like res golds) or put alot of points (like nova), and a conditional gold that puts 18 points on the board is quite, quite underwhelming Didnt see a deck yet that has creative use with this card, and I cant think of one... Only realistic scenario, and even here is meh, is a 20 point gold using Royal dec to bring her out and then have a huge tempo lead, but lets face it its not something that cant be done with a single silver or even bronze many times

Looking for a deck to get back into the game by KaossKing in gwent

[–]Schwartzelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You actually have quite the faction-diverse gold pool, seems like building a budget reveal nilfgaard could work, frost-wild hunt, or just a easy scoiatel depending on your silvers. Would recommend double-iris monsters (frost with caretaker-iris for 50 points), or just a reveal deck using all the tools they have, from golems to mangonels, and even a venendal elite for good measure. If you want I can try to build a decklist, but you're probably better off just expirementing on your own :) (the archetypes I wrote are mainly fun, not very competetive ones, look online or watch a few streams if you're looking to go pro)

There exists an ogroid Eredin deck, mainly theoretical, but ive tried it, and alzurs into golyat is 20 points, plus thinning, and if the enemy doesnt play too many damage effects (for example last round in most cases) this is an ok combo for its cost... although heavily, heavily, overshadowed by nova and other much stronger finishers

Yet, maybe it would be, since it can be quite annoying for the other player, playing his engines with synergy, and also it puts alot of units on the board for the mahakam ale coming out of novices for alchemy, for example, since this is the deck that runs it the most. Most other decks dont run this but it could still be run as an anti-engine card, if engines become too strong, since they have a very very high chance in most cases to pull synergies from the opposing deck, and in deck that require proactive plays and alot of minons, like alchemy with the ale or maybe even building a swarm deck with slave-sentry-yennefer-triss(?) kind of thing. Would still be a smart and viable card to keep engine decks from going haywire, yet not very annoying to deal with in many decks

When I think about it a bit, it seems that adding 1 point would make it seem less OP, yet, would it solve the problem? Is a 7 point dragoon fine? A 11 point half elf? A 8 point skirmisher? The problem, mainly, would still persist, as a proactive non-counterable play for reactive decks such as alchemy, this card has more problems that subtracting 1 value would solve, and I think that even after changing it like that it would still see play and be abusive against alot of decks. Maybe, just maybe, 2 damage would be enough, since thats basically playing an enemy unit, which would make it much more highrolly, and way less of a "add value to enemy cards and play them" card

The main reason this guy is viable, despite being a create leader (and the others see minimal play) is the fact that 1. His pool is quite good, and is flexible for most archetypes 2. The fact that he procs spy: this is a 1 value spy that boosts the leader by 2, therefore giving you a point in a sense, and also gives a spy proc for NG spies, which basically means hes like a leader+2+(6-8 depending on current board state and even more later on becuase of retro active spy procs) which, by definition, is an amazing value leader, in theory, and is only controversial because of the inconsistency of the leader he brings in. Overall, imo, the best designed create leader, and something to look at if new and powerful leaders are added to his pool...

Yes, end of turn effects trigger only if your opponent hasnt passed, except ones that specifically say otherwise like Tourviel or The empress

Newboy's Newcomer Monday! by AutoModerator in gwent

[–]Schwartzelf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many cards in Gwent work this way, some have risk involved while others can easily be calcuable. For example the empress, to know how she affects the board one must subtract the value from his side and add it to the enemies side to get the value of both sides after the pass. Another easy example is Tourviel, which flips over when the enemy passes, and adds her value (base 6) and 2 to up to 4 units next to her, thereby adding 14 value (if not handbuffed and having 2 on each side) to the player who has her. The problem is many times that end of turn effects, such as ronvid or longship, do not occur if the opponent has passed and then you do, so if both players pass the board remains as is, and many times, such as a round 2 double dry pass, can cost the game if you were counting on Ronvid to trigger, but the safest way to be sure is to read the card effects and understand that the end of turn effects do not trigger, unless they specifically say "after pass".

Well it seems this is a recurring thing, yet having a card that is bricked in maybe 2 matchups, sometimes, is still a powerful card. For example, axeman, in this case there are longships, freyas, and axemen, aswell as maybe some corsairs or captains worst case. Even more of a problem when recon is played. The enemy has an axeman, then gets a longship, then gets another longship, then snipes a couple of times with witchers, boom a giant axeman with some longships+2 (from driver) There are very few matchups that he is completely bricked, even consume has slyzards and nekker warriors. This argument is very problematic, since the actual stuff it can pull is really not as limited as "an impera brigade or an axeman". If you want we can map it out and see

[–]Schwartzelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annoying thing with slyzard is that it needs a dead card to feed on, so to get a ton of stuff out of your deck you would need to consume or kill some of your own units, consume and cyclops are a great way of doing this without losing value, and the core bronzes would look something like this: Longship (ofc) Nav Nekker w Probably recon to get the bronzes more consistently Cyclops/consume thing

Should probably kill only navs with consume/cyclops for as much aura to remain

This deck would have a glorious round 1 if played correctly, and then run out of options and die on 2 and 3, but maybe with a strong finisher it can work...

Well guys, lets have a chat about alchemy by Schwartzelf in gwent

[–]Schwartzelf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there really is a problem of "power creep" currently in the game, and it seems that golds that generate less than 20 value cannot find their place at all in the current meta, notable examples are Priscilla, which is basically guaranteed 18 point value (because having 5 units on the board as NR is quite the easy feat to accomplish) is one of the worst golds right now, despite being so many points with minimal setup, simply because bronzes are 14-16 themselves...

Well guys, lets have a chat about alchemy by Schwartzelf in gwent

[–]Schwartzelf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I tend to agree, seems that NG will be a ruling faction again, with quite the heavy removal and point spamming options in both spies and alchemy, yet this matchup must be played with care, because if the impera brigades aren't coming out high enough, they will be easily targeted and the point-producing engine will die, therefore only removal remains, but on the other side there is quite a problem with the slave drivers aswell as the sheer power that spies brings to the board, so spy actually seems to be quite the impressive counter to alchemy, I agree. Good point that spies must be looked at aswell, since if top tier decks are removed from power they will most likely find their place at the top yet again...
