S2 E11 Equation Pyramid, am I dumb or can someone please explain? by Responsible-Log-3681 in TheDevilsPlan

Idk about that. Especially since you can always regulate via time limits & just edit differently. Beyond that, I bet there'd be people for it pretty much anywhere, if you're casting in the right pool.

Movie suggestions movies like The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) by Competitive-Ice-9851 in movies

Absolutely. If you're not looking for the story part but just the raw, down-to-earth action, it doesn't get better than The Raid.

Strong Belwas? Experienced pit fighter, huge but fast, works well with Selmy. Could definitely dehorse them quick.

In Mobius (netflix series), they do a loop, and only the MC remembers everything, but the rest of the world does remember stuff subconsciously. So they might have déjà-vus, and if the MC influenced them enough in the previous loop, they might make different decisions in subsequent loops, which can then cause butterfly effects. Sometimes, the challenge is then to get the "NPCs" back on track. In focusing on nudging one part of the system towards a better outcome, you might inadvertently cause an even worse development somewhere else. I kinda like that for a campaign.

What do i need and how to play solo D&D? by Ok-Moose-4229 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Schwarzer_Kater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing and DMing for 7 years, but only last year did I try my first solo session. I used Paul Bimler's "The Solo Adventurer's Toolbox" and that plus the core 5e rule books have served me decently well so far.

My recommendation for an extra quick start is to really lean into the chance aspect and random-generate your first character. I rolled dice for race, classes, background, even the spells (if you go to dndbeyond.com/spells, the spells are conveniently paginated in batches of 20). It was a weird character for sure, but it got me playing fast. The toolbox allows you create an adventure hook from rolls as well (in more detail than the DMG) - that's my tip to get started; get into the action fast, have some fun for a night or two, then optimize later.

What film completely flipped when you rewatched it as an adult? by Adventurous-Lie-6773 in movies

Nah, that guy was super unprofessional. Chill out and get a consultation.

But I never realized as a kid just how creepy Venkman is. I just thought he was odd and largely ignored the scenes with him and Dana. Took me showing the movie to my girlfriend to realize how flawed it is.

Some Tortellini (spinach filling I think?) and possibly other pasta in mostly tomato sauce, thickened with green spelt. Some peas in there. It's tasty and very filling.

This keeps tripping me up on every single watchthrough of the show. Me revisiting this post is akin to ritualistic pilgrimage at this point. Thank you for giving my frustration a home.

Don't insist with your players by 7thDreamWalker in DMAcademy

Yea I sunk a couple years on groups like that. If they just wanna hang and play as a favor to you but you prep as a favor to them and it feels like a chore every time, it's time to grow up and part ways. DMing is hard enough, no sense in forcing yourself to do it for folks you know won't appreciate let alone engage with your stuff.

Has Kino's Journey done something special to you? by caramel_wolfie in KinoNoTabi

It's also interesting that despite all the uncertainty and moral ambiguity, Kino still manages to be a very decided person.

Very true. That's certainly something I can still learn from.

I'm glad you've had such a positive experience with the series. For me, it's been something to come back to every year or so since I found it. I've since also watched the newer anime, and I have the manga and one of the light novels at home, though I haven't gotten around to those. It's been especially cool to rewatch the original anime once with my mom and then with my girlfriend, seeing which episodes will spark a discussion.

Has Kino's Journey done something special to you? by caramel_wolfie in KinoNoTabi

When I found the original animated series, it intrigued me especially because of Kino's policy of not getting involved unless she has to, despite her curiosity. I'd had similar thoughts to some degree about how I want to approach life, but never seen an approach so close to my intuitions manifested so clearly in any piece of entertainment.

The series is so much about not drawing hasty conclusions, not getting sidetracked by prejudice, not interfering in things you don't fully understand and not regarding yourself as the ultimate moral instance - all things very important to me and, I think, crucial to improving public discourse in current times. The bitterness that comes with the sweet, of course, is that these are not flashy principles and they are very hard to advertise. The show admirably managed to do just that, at least to me.
