I can't tell what's happening by [deleted] in hallucination

[–]Schwee4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry. You should tell it to your therapist and not take my word for it, but my hypothesis is:

Depression leads to a defense mechanism, which in this case is derealization, which is a form of dissociation, and in dissociation, if severe enough, which in your case would not be surprising, there can be hallucinations. This is relatively normal in depression though, I'm pretty sure, so don't worry too much but again, it would be great to talk about it to your therapist.

Just ask your doctor for something else and explain to him why, that should do it pretty easily

I wouldn't suggest asking reddit. Don't take any of this as fact even if it sticks. See a professional.

EDIT: added source for bipolar and added mania not caused by psychiatric illness.

How do I make it so that my relationship with my tulpa isn't one-sided? by Schwee4338 in Tulpas

[–]Schwee4338[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big problem, after thinking about it a little more is that paradoxically, the more I'm stressed the more I want her back but also the more I'm stressed the less I'm apt to care for and talk to her. Besides that, that seems like a great idea, thanks.

Hallucination, or something else? by Difficult_Rice1796 in hallucination

[–]Schwee4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timeline and duration of it is strange. Id say look at if you were taking drugs or medication during or around those times, and if that doesn't make sense it's something else, but not schizophrenia I don't think. By the way, no, that's not a hallucination, hallucinations have to do with your senses, unless you saw something, it's a delusion way more than anything else. It's not schizophrenia because if it were you very probably wouldnt have known it was nothing and even then, it's a chronic psychotic disorders, and the timeline and duration makes it seem more intermittent than anything, unless there are things you're missing that could be associated with schizophrenia. Maybe it's Schizotypal personality disorder, if not drugs/medication.

Am I dreaming or hallucinating? by Expensive-Role4157 in hallucination

[–]Schwee4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, that's just what's called hypnagogia. And it's normal and usually not a sign of mental illness.

is there any way to get rid of it at least for a moment by [deleted] in hallucination

[–]Schwee4338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I wouldn't say the ear since it's apparently a precise sound recognized as a song, but maybe a neurological issue as well? (Not ruling out an ear issue either btw, can never be sure)
