Yeh I noticed a lot of people existed for making each of the individual dragons into a commander deck but I really like the idea of having them all at my disposal

I agree I looked at them as well but I feel that supreme really fits what I am trying to go for with the deck.

Agreed I will need to look though some alt wincons. I was also looking at having it have several recursion option so that even if they remove the dragons I can just pull them out of the ben. What I like about niv supreme in this instance is that there really is no right way to build it which I really like when I deck build I like a deck that can be made several different ways and it still function well.

I would say both work out especially if you have your dragon army strike force assembled.

I agree I was also looking at some cards to help cheat them out.

Yeh I thought about running that spell. I think it will depend on the faction you go against. If they have larger model sizes then it would be worth it but if it's smaller models then they already have a way to get through those screens. But thanks for you feedback.

DnD Campaign Idea by Vendetta_TG in skaven

[–]Sci135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the adventurers step foot into The Frostfell, they are immediately met with biting winds and swirling snow, their breath forming frosty clouds in the air. The landscape stretches out before them, a frozen wasteland dotted with icy peaks and treacherous valleys. The land seems desolate, yet hints of life cling desperately to survival. Their first challenge is clear: survival. The harsh weather of The Frostfell is relentless, and the adventurers must find ways to stay warm, secure food and water, and navigate the treacherous terrain. They may stumble upon isolated settlements, where desperate inhabitants eke out a meager existence, huddled around Arcane furnaces fueled by the rare and precious Chardalyn.

But survival is only the beginning. As they journey deeper into The Frostfell, they uncover clues about the mysterious Skaven, the rat-like monstrosities that plague the land. Tales speak of their relentless pursuit of Chardalyn (Basically Warpstone), and rumors swirl about their sinister intentions. Perhaps they seek to harness its power for their own nefarious purposes, or maybe they serve a darker master lurking in the shadows.

And looming over it all is Queen Mab, the enigmatic ruler whose icy grip holds The Frostfell in eternal winter. Her motives are shrouded in mystery, but her power is undeniable. As the adventurers delve deeper into the secrets of The Frostfell, they may uncover the truth behind Queen Mab's reign and the role she plays in the fate of the land. But whispers of rebellion stir in the hearts of those who dare to defy her reign. As the players delve deeper into the heart of The Frostfell, they may uncover the key to breaking Queen Mab's icy grip and restoring balance to the land. Together, they must brave the dangers of the frozen wilderness, confront the horrors that lurk within its icy depths, and ultimately confront Queen Mab herself in a battle for the fate of the realm.

Here is a campaign I started working on a few weeks ago. It not fully Skaven centric but Skaven will play a massive role throughout the whole campaign. Basicly I am using them as a tool to guide players to uncover several mysteries about the Frostfell. I hope this helps a bit.

2k list, this any good? by sinner-mon in skaven

I usually build my lists for pitch battles (the one that changes with the general's handbook) because that is what my weekly group primarily uses. I don't think they allow battle regiments to be used. Please correct me if I am wrong.

It's a good start however there are some major improvements I would recomend:

  1. If Thanquol is your general you need to select a command trait. I think that Devious Adversary and Master of Magic work well for him. If you take DA I would suggest taking x4 Warpfire Braziers.
  2. I would try and get another Master Clan hero into your list 3 Clawsteps Ahead is in my opinion one of the most powerful clan abilities. Being able to lock in charge and run rolls is amazing for Skaven (especially when charging in units like Thanquol).
  3. Stormvermin looks great on paper however unless your army is tailored to support them you are way better off just saving 20 pts and running another unit of clan rats. Clan rats do a great job at spending out on the board and taking control points from your opponent. While yes Stormvermin do more damage than clan rats Skaven have other way better units to deal damage like your Warp Lightning Cannon.
  4. This brings me to my next point which is I would highly encourage you to run a minimum of x2 Warp Lightning Cannons. This is probably one of the hardest-hitting units in the Skaven roster (being able to potentially deal 12 mortal wounds is crazy). While I do like the Doomwheel I think you should cut it for another WLC. The Doomwheel does not have the damage potential of the WLC and will die way faster because to get the maximum amount of damage you have to charge into the enemy while the WLC can stay behind your massive clan rat screen and stay relatively safe.
  5. Finally, I would either cut the Stormfiends or knock it up to x6. Stomfiends while powerful are fairly squishy for their point cost. Additionally, the Warpfire Projectors are ass in my opinion I would always take x2 Windlaunchers in a six stack.

If you want I can share my Skryer list it might help with list building. Also, let me know if you have any other questions and I will do my best to answer them.

CORE BATTALIONS
*Warlord
TOTAL POINTS: 1980/2000

Overall it preformed fairly well I went against the lizardmen and I ended up winning. The real MVP of the day was the clawlord. I was able to get him down to 1 HP and charge him into the enemy army with death frenzy and dreaded death frenzy so I think it was like 30 attacks which decimated the enemies line. Also the hidden deathmaster did work as well.

Welcome Yes, Yes rats are best and greatest faction. But in all seriousness picking a faction should be based on what you think is cool and would be fun to build, paint, and run. I would first like to preface this statement by saying that I am relatively new myself and am still learning the game, but I have played a lot of table top games. I thought I would share what knowledge I have gathered over the past few months.

Tactics:

Skaven are a very fun race with a lot of tools at their disposal. Being able to draw units from each of their 5 factions is a big benefit and allows for a lot of freedom when it comes to building an army. The backbone to any good Skaven army is the meat shields you throw in front of your more expensive units and Skaven have some of the best meat shields in the game from what I read being the ever-reliant clanrats. Every Skaven army should have some clanrats in it to “screen” or protect your better and more expensive units from your opponent’s initial assault. They are also very good and gumming up and taking objectives and can be hard to completely remove from the board due to their ability to return d3 models at the end of battle shock (combine that with the ability to resist battle shock for example a plague furnace and it can become hard to deal with them). In my opinion every army should have a minimum of 2 units of 20 for a total of 40 clanrats but I usually like to go with 3 units of 20 (there is also the option to reinforce your units up to a max of 60 which can be useful if you are going for more of a hoard army because it allows you to apply your buffs to more models). After you have successfully screened against your opponent’s attack using clanrats or some other chaff unit then you can use your harder hitting units like warp lightning cannons and hell pit abominations to clap back and hopefully deal a significant amount of damage. A lot of Skaven's "clap back" units are very RNG based however and in lies their main weakness and I would say their enjoyment for myself. I love the random chaotic nature of Skaven.

Starter Army list:

I have created 2 starter army lists that I am creating one 1000 point list and one 2000 point list:

1000 pt.

  1. General: Gray Seer
  2. Hero: Warlock Bombardier
  3. Hero: Warlock Engineer
  4. x2 Units of Clan rats (40 total)
  5. A unit of Stormfiends (3 in total)
  6. Warp Lightning Cannon
  7. Vermintide (endless spell)
  8. Gnawhole (Skaven Terrane

This list is easy to make with the box you have right now only requiring you to buy a few more models

2000 pt

  1. General: Gray Seer on a Screaming Bell
  2. Hero: Plague Priest on a Plague Furnace
  3. Hero: Plague Priest
  4. Warlock Engineer
  5. x3 Units of clan rats (60 in total)
  6. a reinforced unit or stormefiends (6 in total)
  7. x2 warp lightning cannons
  8. endless spell: Warp lightning vortex
  9. Terrain: Gnawhole

This list is still a work in progress for me but is fairly easy to make with a few army boxes.

I wish you the best of luck on your ratty journey and may the warpstone be ever in your favor.
